Hi Guys,

As many of you know the upcoming “Old Toy Soldier Show” in Chicago is a major event in the K&C calendar.

I know some, but not all of you, will have the opportunity to actually get to the “Windy City” and see all of the displays for yourself… So, I thought we’d give you “Special Backstage Pass” to see some of Gordon and the K&C Workshop’s handwork that will appear in Chicago.

Here’s the first one entitled “SOMEWHERE IN FRANCE”… as you can see it features our two “New Normandy Village” buildings and our little bridge. It measures 22”X22”X16” with GI’s in a “1944” scenario… In another set up it’s “1914” with French infantry and civilians and finally it’s “1940” and features some of our older “Field of Battle” figures together with our later refugee civilians.

In Chicago this particular display will preview something different again. Hope you enjoy… best wishes and …happy collecting!

Thanks for posting these Andy,really good work from Gordon once again and great to be able to get a peek at these when you can't make it across the pond, much appreciated. The new building looks very good alongside the Boulangerie. Looking forward to what the 'something different' may be:wink2:

Me too, Chicago,Westcoaster and London are all highlights of the collecting year and its always really enjoyable to see whats happening at these shows.

Agree about the Jimmy truck. Speaking of which, who or what is the figure in the rear of the jimmy on the far right at the opposite side to the US guys?? I can't see a weapon or helmet and wondered what it is

I was wondering the same, on looking at them all through a magnifying glass its still difficult. They could be new , especially the guy in front . Its either D Day 43 'Patrol ' or a remake of it.

Mitch and Rob, if my memory serves me, the Jimmy was issued with two figures, the driver, and a walking GI with a jerry can. The sitting GI in the back, who is bareheaded, was the fourth figure in DD040, a four figure set of sitting GI's. The first three figures were joined as a single unit and the fourth, the bareheaded GI, was a seperate cast, for flexibility. He was issued with a loose rifle and helmet. The helmet can be seen on the floor of the truck and the rifle is on the bench next to him. -- Al

Thanks Al. Since Andy put the Cromwell Tank in the background of one of Gordons dio's a couple of years back (before it was announced) I like to examine these scenes for any other little surprises!^&grin

Can't believe no one is taking a guess at the "new item or items" for this diorama, so here are mine.

British Commando's or D-Day troops street fighting
If this is a canal, could there be an Arnhem light vehicle (I know it's a french scene but what the hell, use your imagination)
My personal hope (yes I know wrong time period), "Prussian" infantry at the gates of Paris!

There you go. my real hope from K&C (or Figarti) for that matter, is WWI siege artillery, but let's wait and see

Looking at the France 44 display I see a meet up with the 101'st screaming Eagles.

One more thing I noticed their seem to be new 3rd infantry div Figs in the display that i have not
seen before.

In looking at the 1944 scene, very nicely done by the way, I don't see any new figures, mostly older sets (most of which are retired), such as DD 39 Jimmy Truck, DD 40 Truck Riders, DD 42 MP, DD 43 Infantry on Patrol, DD 41 MP on Motorcycle, DD 93 Sherman, trailer from DD 49, DD 75 Jeep and DD 96 Over There (one of my favorite sets).
