who are the mask police...me...your neighbors/friends...the overwhelming majority of the world...the government?

I'm missing the point of your post...
are you recruiting for people to stop wearing masks?

I'm guessing you're that guy that doesn't wear a mask anywhere in public...

I'm sticking with the advice of WHO...the CDC...and the overwhelming majority of doctors...scientists...and other countries...

me wearing a mask protects you to some degree...
if you don't wear one it doesn't help me at all...
it shouldn't be a one way street...
it should be reciprocal...

I'm sure you're familiar with a condom label...
it's not guaranteed to stop the transmission of diseases...
or 100% sure to stop a pregnancy...
but it helps...

again...if you're not wearing one...

I do wear one as you can't go in a store without one.It's the law which is bullshit as governors can't make laws only enforce them.I haven't seen that Bucky Beaver wimp of a governor of ours with one.Many many many people wear them and still get the virus even health care workers who have even better equipment.Bacteria get on them in 15-20 minutes,your breathing in carbon monoxide.I have heard of people getting plurosy (i can't say the name right) which is a type of pneumonia but you get on the outside of your lungs due to wearing these things .Then you got all the pigs throwing them and gloves all over the place.They weren't worried about people wearing them until they started making a ton of them and I'm sure the bigshots get a kickback for promoting them.If you want to believe those halfwits on tv who change their minds everyday go right ahead but I don't.I believe there's a virus but it has to go through the population and no matter what you do you will soon come in contact with it one way or another.But don't tell me I'm going to kill someone if I come in contact with them.They are trying to make people like scared sheep but I won't be one of them.Then you have that brainless Biden saying he would make everybody wear one.He doesn't know his mouth from his ******* but he's going to dictate what people do.Yeah right.

the main purpose of me wearing a mask is to protect you...
it helps contain my spittle particles produced from talking or coughing...

the purpose of someone else wearing a mask is to protect me...

this is why surgeons wear them through surgery...
to protect the patient...

I don't think anyone can dispute that a mask...
a rag or even a dirty sock over their mouth...
doesn't help contain their airborne discharge...

it may not protect anyone they come in contact with 100%...
but it's common sense it must help some...

You've obviously got a lot feelings that you need to express. Considering your experiences over the last several months, I certainly can't blame you. I wonder, though, have you noticed how many "caregivers" have participated in the thread? Those guys are tending to family and are worried sick about them. Another clearly discernible group are posters who lost someone, a family member in some cases. It's not lost on us that you've suffered, also, and that you face the same challenges. That's really all. I just want YOU to know that you're no alone, and that WE know that you're doing the best that you can, just like the rest of us.

I'm really at the end of my rope with all of this.

NOT to turn this into a political debate, but this has just been a MASSIVE, COLLOSAL failure on just about every level.

We've got what, now 30 states that are spiking?

On and on and on and on this thing goes, SIX months with no end in sight.

As far as the great mask debate; I don't want to belabor this anymore, but AGAIN, here in MA, we were a certified hot zone through March and April, our governor came out at one point and made it MANDITORY that you wear one out in public.

Our daily number has gone from 1500 positives/150 deaths a day to roughly 150/30...…………………….the number of hospitalizations has plummeted too.

Mandatory mask wearing was the only thing that changed.

THAT'S IT, nothing else.

I wear it from my condo to my jeep and back again in case I cross paths with some nitwit in my building who is not wearing one.

Every store/building I enter, I have it on, it comes off when I get back to my jeep.

I am limiting my activities, now I need another haircut this Tuesday, a six month dental visit/cleaning the following week, on the one hand, I don't want to take the risk with the barber/dentist, but personal grooming and dental health are important, so it's a risk I'll have to take.

Other than that, supermarket twice a week, post office three times a week, THAT'S IT aside from gas once a month, CVS once a month.

From the looks of things, we're stuck with this for another year, so June of 2021 optimistically, the hope is it burns out on it's own, I hope we are not waiting on a vaccine, that IMO is a long, long way off if ever.

It's 2020, not the middle ages or 1918 and the entire world has been brought to it's knees by a microscopic virus.

It's incomprehensible, yet here we are.

Just infuriating/depressing/mind bending.

This really is no way to live.

I can't speak for wherever you are in Texas...but Abbott's new mandate is welcome by me (on Galveston Island) and I only wish it were stronger...I would like to see the beaches closed again for a couple of weeks...and yes I mean through July 4th weekend...

hopefully Abbott's new mandates will slow infections down...stay safe...

Totally agree that his mandate needs to be stronger. Wish he'd stop around and just order everyone in counties with high rates to wear a mask.
The town that I live in, which refuses to obey the county mask rule, held an outdoor concert last night, masks not required. I hear that a couple hundred people attended. Unbelievable. It reminds me of the quote attributed to Wellington: "I don't fear the enemy, but our generals scare me to death." Our leaders now really scare me.
