All,

Well, after a magnificent weekend I came back to the discussion and was saddened that for the second time the thread was closed. Well, here is the third one and if this one gets closed then I won't participate in it anymore. So, I ask for the three strikes and your out rule to give us one more chance to participate and contribute to the discussion.

We are in new and uncertain times and frustrations and emotions are running high and I too am guilty of maybe venting a little too much on the thread. But, the responses I get from our members are calm, collective and most importantly challenging. Challenging in the sense, that I might now always be right and that everyone here has a different story or point of view. Which in my opinion is the stimulation I think we all need to express our views. Likewise, when a member challenges my thoughts it gives me pause to re-think my position and re-think how I feel. If I did not do that then there would be no discipline in my thought process and then only spew would come out. But, remember it is not in my DNA to spew and I believe in my heart or hearts neither are our members those type of people.

On these thread(s) I have not read anything derogatory, racially insensitive nor disrespectful and THAT is why I love this thread and forum all together. We are grown men and women who are professionals in our field and not trolls or wing nuts who thrive on controversy. Quite the opposite and I guarantee the things we pose, posit, present and debate are so "light" compared to other forums our there that if a "civilian" were to read our musings and mish mash they would wonder who we are and think of us as tea drinking aristocrats who live in ivory towers.

Therefore, Julie and Pat I ask for one more chance to let the thread continue and like I said if you deem our conversations go to far off the edge and decide to close it down for a third time...then I'm out and I pinkie swear I will not return to this thread or present another one. This is my COVID Info thread "last stand" and request a reprieve.

Perhaps this thread should be in the Chat Lounge section, rather than General Toy Soldier Discussion.
I was counting on the Covid threads for ground-level reports from different countries about local situations, and was disappointed when they were stopped. I get news from a variety of sources, but nothing beats hearing it first-hand from my own international community. I can put up with the occaisional conspiracy theories, they tell me more about the poster than about reality.

Why not go on Facebook instead, you'll get many more frightened and angry responses there. Please vent there.


Maybe even go to cable news outlets like CNN, FOX, MSNBC, or even the Washington Post or New York Times...you'll get plenty of juice there too!


Discussions are going to get even worse as we get closer and closer to the presidential election in November (e.g. "I hate Trump", "I Love Trump"), plus all of the unrest media will find or helps create.

Therefore, "PLEASE KEEP THIS FORUM FREE OF POLITICS" at least for the next 6 months. I can’t believe I’m saying this; “enough is enough”!

True, I don't have to read political threads on this Forum. However, I've already been programmed by Social Media and News media to react to headlines. It’s disturbing.

I need some relief from “Hate” now disguised as news...This is why I have a great hobby called "toy soldiers".

So, some may leave this forum if this and maybe other political threads get deleted? Well, we now live a "Cancel Culture". Getting insulted or offended has become the norm. I may leave too if political threads continue.... Hmm, yesterday there were two (2) of us. One us that insists on having these kinds of threads and one doesn't want to have them anymore...tomorrow we may have only one...We have a net loss of one because you can't please everyone.

I don't blame Julie for this...its just the way of the world we live in. She can’t please both of us.

I really think sticking to a non-political discussion of the virus would be the best course. Right now, its getting a little scary, with several states showing their highest ever single day deaths. I am beginning to think that George is correct: we are not going to get out of the woods until this time next year, unless by some miracle an effective vaccine is released for general consumption sooner.

As for the Coronavirus threads, several members not only bailed on the discussion, but on the forum as well. The gentlemen didn't like the tide or tenor of the conversation. Stated so, explicitly. I can't blame them, assuming that they frequent the venue out of an interest in Toy Soldiers.

I'm with you, social distancing for as long as it takes.

I miss my family and my friends, but sorry, I'm not willing to put them (or me) at risk, it's called doing for the greater good.

If it takes a year, then so be it and I'm not going to pin my hopes on a vaccine, they can't even come up with a flu vaccine that is 100% effective and how long as the flu been around?

I apologize to everyone as I feel I was at fault for the last thread closing.We are all different and have different opinions but one thing we can all agree on is that this little monster needs to go away and never come back.This will be my only post on this thread as I feel I've said all I can on this subject.See you guys on other threads.^&grin

This thread is great because we do talk about other things. If we only talk about Covid, there would be few posts. We talked about food, concerts, neighbors, dogs, graduations, BBQ, BLM, etc. A slice of our lives.
Covidwise, we can only do our personal best to keep ourselves and people safe.
Thanks Mark for apology. Others have also put us on the thread closure edge too. I believe we should keep a thread open if one recognizes his error. This appears to be our last chance so keep it civil. This is the best thing on the Forum right now.

I have zero social media...facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. Never have and never will The only thing I participate online is TSF and you know what? That's enough, and you know why? It brings me joy. To have buddies from all around the globe is unique and down right cool. To talk to strangers online or...wait for it...FAMILY...UGH...is a hell no in my books. I don't even call them let alone consort with them and their minds on line. Good god, no.

A long time ago when social media was exploding I knew it was not for me. Call me a soothsayer, but I knew boards, forums, etc would eventually go negative, moreover hateful. Its human nature and people are so judgmental its not even funny. Listen to ladies talk about facebook sometime and hear the caddy comments they make about so and so. Ugh, I'll have none of it. The less I know, the simpler my life is.

I mean imagine logging on and looking at ZB Lang everyday? Knowing that he is a lawyer from the east of all places. Oh God no. I'm just kidding ZB, you email pic is the best and I told you before how can I say "no" to ZB with that grin! Haha.

Glad to be back on the COVID thread. Lets lick this thing and we need to listen to the Wisdom of Mike Miller, the hilarious descriptions from George and our brothers down under and 'round the world. This thread is the single most fascinating thread I have ever been on here on the TSF and I think the world of it and everyone on it.

When Facebook first came onto the scene my cousin (you know, the one with the boys regular haircut, coke bottle glasses, smoking jacket, slippers and ascot who talks about "I'll blow anyone out of their shoes who threatens me and my family!!") kept hounding me to get a Facebook page, it's a great way to reconnect with old friends and stay in touch with family and friends.

After repeatedly bashing me over the head with a trash can lid to get one, I finally caved in...……………..and boy was he right, Facebook is GREAT!!

If you want to be stalked by ex girlfriends or weirdos from high school who you did not want to be friends with THEN, let alone now.

My 40th high school reunion was two years ago, they had a Facebook page, I found it and decided to go.

I'm talking to people I hardly remember babbling and rambling about their glory days in high school, their kids, their tremendous jobs where they make six figures (and based on all the Prius' I saw in the parking lot, those "six figures" must be 9,000.00 a year as afterall, count em up, that's six), blah, blah, blah, so I decide I might as well get hammered.

I'm at the bar and some dude comes up to me and starts yammering, NO CLUE who he is, he asks if I want a beer, I tell him no, I'm good, he insists, I say no thanks, HE INSISTS, so I say ok, sure, he hands it to me and I say thanks and walk away.

He comes up to me ten minutes later "HEY!!, you owe me a beer!!"...…………………..Hmmm, ok then; I say "Sure, let's go get you that beer" and he says, "Well not now, but you owe me one!!"...……….ok, great, I owe him one.

About an hour later, I had had enough walking down memory lane, text my girlfriend and tell her to meet me at this bar we both love to hang out at, as I'm walking to my vehicle, hobo joe yells from the doorway "HEY, you owe me a beer!"...…………………….I just kept walking and got in my vehicle and rode off.

He then proceeded to carpet bomb me on my Facebook page about how I "Owe him a beer!"...………………...I sent him a PM and asked him for his address, he sent it to me, I arranged to have a case of his favorite beer delivered to his house by a buddy of mine who has a liquor distributorship with a note saying "WE'RE EVEN!!"...……………..I was going to say "You owe me 23 beers", but I'm good...………………………...

Trust me gentlemen, I want to keep a thread open for good discussion and the ability to chat, vent (within reason) and discuss what is happening in each respective area.

Blame-games and politics are just not allowed. I am rather harsh and fully delete and erase completely without comment posts that do not belong. I will also delete any post quoting it with a response.

I fully support my mods and what they decide when I am not available.
