All it took for people to improve their hygienic habits was having a worldwide pandemic dropped on us; hey, whatever it takes......

Again, I have to ask, did people really not wash their hands after going to the bathroom before all of this?

The word disgusting comes to mind……

Having vented a couple of weeks ago about mask wearing, I’ve decided to play it cautious with the Delta variant now in this country and cases ticking up in 45 states.

Just found out a friend and Godfather of my daughter got Covid. Now in isolation with his wife. His son and his wife also had it.

Tested positive but not aware he had it as feeling no symptoms.

All in South Africa.

That’s correct. After I took a tinkle I’d rub some pee in my hands and then use some as cologne. Try it some time. It has an amazing effect on the opposite sex.

I have a funny feeling in the Fall as the flu roars through the US, that combined with the Delta variant will cause our government to roll out the mask requirement again.

Yup; it's coming.

I feel the same way....too early to claim total victory over the Virus. I still wear my mask when entering retail establishments and try to eat outside at restaurants.
Of course with my age and some underlying health issues I have to be more cautious. Unfortunately I also see more mask mandates and booster shots on the horizon.
Vaccines are still the most effective defense against the Virus and we see that 99% of Covid related deaths are with unvaccinated people.

At our age, we have to be a little more cautious.

Richard...

to each his own...but I'm still wearing a mask at all retail stores too...or any establishment I enter for that matter...and dining outside or using "to go" only...I did not wear one at a MILB game I attended earlier this year...nor did anyone else from what I saw...my tickets for August 11th are at the same venue...and I doubt I will wear a mask to that game either...other than that...which I know is pretty flippant...I make no exceptions on wearing a mask...I believe in them and they are not much of a nuisance to me...

it's the middle of the summer here...and even with that...wearing a mask indoors is just not a big inconvenience to me...I don't wear one when I ride my bicycle or motorcycle...plus I have health issues and the Delta variance is pretty scary...but again...I'm confident a mask helps...it just makes good common sense...

Obviously, anyone who feels safer wearing a mask can continue to do so. There is no harm but no real point if they have been vaccinated. There would be riots, however, if they imposed any more mask mandates and shutdowns. People are fed up. The vaccine appears to be almost 100% effective even against the variants. In the very unlikely case that someone who is vaccinated does get the virus, the symptoms are usually mild. Individuals who have access to the vaccine (which is everyone now in the US) and decline are simply going to have to take on the responsibility for those actions. Everyone else can't forever be obligated into wearing masks because some decide they don't want to be vaccinated.

The people who work in medical facilities (doctor’s offices, etc.) are fully or mostly vaccinated but yet they require you to wear masks. If doctors require you to do so there must be a reason.

I went for an eye exam at UTMB in Galveston 3-4 weeks ago...
I wore a mask...I think everyone I saw wore a mask...
the PA that prepped me for my opthalmologist...did not wear a mask...
when I asked why she didn't if I was required to...
she told me that the hospital's new rule was...

as an employee...if you are vaccinated...you don't have to wear a mask...
if unvaccinated...you must wear a mask...

so if I see a nurse with a mask on...which I didn't...
I think I would tend to shy away from them...
but you don't know this unless you asked why like I did...

like the Scarlet Letter...
maybe they should wear the letters NV on their uniform so the public will know they are cootie vulnerable...
maybe tattoo it on their forehead...^&grin

I had a cataract operation a few weeks ago and everyone one in the office from the surgeon on down wears a mask, no exceptions.

if you have 5 minutes to spare...
this is a pretty interesting watch...
that shows the very ominous direction of the Covid Delta Variants ravaging...

So the Delta variant is roaring through the country now.......................infection rate going up, vaccination rate going down.

Those two happening means naturally that would be the result.

And the worst is yet to come; September/October/November are going to be rough..............................

The Spanish Flu ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO lasted two years.

This is playing out to last the same amount of time; March of 2020 to March of 2022.

That's just all kinds of awesome.

A customer of mine who lives in CT passed this along to me a short time ago;

Dear George,
See this quote in a story in the Hartford Courant.

I think this doctor articulates the future quite well.

“It's both my opinion as well as the majority of my peers; by the end of 2021, you will either get COVID, or you will get the vaccine,” said Dr. Tom Balcezak, chief clinical officer at Yale New Haven Health. “And the only way to avoid getting COVID is to get a vaccine.”

The mask has become a scarlet letter of sorts, if you wear it then most presume you are not vaccinated and thus you are an anti-vaccer.

Never mind the fact that you could be wearing one due to deeper health concerns or simple safety.

Again, this pandemic has proven that there are absolutely no limits to human stupidity, on all sides.

So tell me, if you've recovered from COVID do you have take the vaccine anyway?

Carlos

Probably not although it’s far from crystal clear. Your body develops an immunity once you’ve had it, similar to when you got the measles when you were a kid.

Jason...
honestly...that thought has crossed my mind more than once...
wondering if people think I'm an anti-vaccer as I still wear a mask...

Carlos...
concerning Covid 1.0...
having that virus and living through it...
does have some residual safety values from getting it again for a while...
I have not seen any research on previous exposure preventing re-catching it again on the mutated Delta Variance virus...
which is proving very deadly...

History will look back on the US, with its overabundant supply of potent and safe vaccines, and wonder how it didn't adequately apply the tools to squash Delta in its tracks.

Every single hospitalization and death for the past two months and from today forward was needless and totally avoidable.
