CRIMEAN WAR - Crazy ? (1 Viewer)

Yes but the lancers? I have WW1 Uhlan, very detailled dressed too, but $69 !!!

And the Napoleonics? $59 to 65, too, and uniforms are of comparable complexity.

No no. This prices are a bad joke. If we accept to pay $120 for one rider, next will cost $180 !!!

Without me.

The price difference has been explained previously on another thread. This series is essentially a specially commissioned line for K&C UK. Perhaps Tony can more eloquently address your concerns.

No one ever said that outfitting a Calvary Unit for WAR would be cheap ! ;)

Hi General custer.

There is as said many a thread where i have explained the cost:-

The figures we have made by K&C for us (K&C UK) are commisioned.

We pay for the design (add on cost per unit)
Box Design and on production manafacture (add on cost per unit)
unit cost of each of the pieces. This is at the normal Wholesale price there is not a range discount for the special
advertising of range (add on % cost per unit)
Import duty into UK
Shipping cost into UK

this is all before we look at any profit and i can assure you that there is very little margin for any pure profit!

There is a lot of costs involved and money invested in this range to ensure that it can continue

all this however is marked off with some exceptional design sculpt and painting by Andy and his crew.

We have just had our december release meeting in HK and our combined idea will be awesome.

Hi

Hi Tony Neville,

Many thanx for all the explanations, I understand now.

Hope you'll make another Russian gun, but with "normal" artillerymen this time!

Have a nice day!

Yeah,
I seem to remember that Florence Nightingale was certainly a very special piece indeed....:p:p
Looking forward to seeing the additions to the TRL and Charge.

Cheers

Yo Troopers, watch this with interest seeing Balaklava is right up my Street. Boy its going to cost more to set this charge up than it did in 1854, at $121.00 for one mounted. If you had five from each regiment = $605.00 then x five regiments = $3,025. Thats without any Russians or guns or main Characters. Then you will want the 93rd Higlanders, THEN the Heavy Brigade another five Regiments, and the French 4th Chasseurs d'Afrique, just put it all down to around $25,000 with postage lol. BUT then you guys dont collect Toy Soldiers DOH (banned from the USA) they are museum models, so as my old Mum used to say you gets what you pays for, and boy have they got you by the B------s, anyway guys good luck with the venture.
Bernard. :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Well from my point of view - the Crimean War Range is some of the BEST figures being produced by King & Country right now. Every little detail is being done with great flair from the figures - all the way down to the box - simply outstanding.

Toy Soldier Collecting is not for the faint at heart. This is a costly little hobby we all have  But, for those of us who can and do afford this passion - rewards of having these wonderful guys in our Collections and the enjoyment displaying them is "priceless" :D

I believe like all things in life - you need to blaze your own path when it comes to Toy Soldier Collecting. You should collect what you want, how you want and in the numbers of what you want. No one should instruct you on how your collection should look. If you want to buy ONE figure from each range only - I say go for it! ITS YOUR COLLECTION.

Many times we see comments from people who want to complain about the price of Metal and Polystone figures and vehicles - what we all know & have to face is that production/materials are on the rise in our World Economy. And with that fact and our favorite hobby products prices will rise too.

Toy soldiers are for the serious Collectors anyway - they are not toys  Perhaps if certain members believe that the cost of museum quality figures are too much - PLASTIC would be better for them and their pocketbooks.

I for one believe that King & Country items are worth the investment. Now, I do not buy everything that my heart desires - even Washington Lobbyists have budgets too ! :D But, for the dollars I spend - I find that each dollar is well spent in this hobby - and that includes King & Country UK - CRIMEAN WAR FIGURES !

Ron

I generally agree with what Ron has said above and he has taken my thunder :). I've said this before but I think the Crimean Range are the best soldiers I've ever seen and that includes figures made by every other company (including K & C's other ranges). Now, I know some may not like to hear this (and maybe I'll get trashed for it) but when it comes to this particular range, there is just no comparison with any other Crimea range made by anyone else. Yes, they are expensive but I don't think many collectors are buying or wanting to buy multiples of the lancers.

Second to Ron and Brad's thoughts on Crimea. I wasn't even a collector of this range until K&C UK developed them, that's how much I like them. PLUS I got a free polo shirt on the first way and its pretty darn cool!

As to price, well, these are limited special pieces, it is what it is.

Now, on a general price comment, as a finance guy, I understand rising costs, and I pay, but I think that the final end of costs on some of the newer models have dramatically increased and I hope it doesn't hurt the hobby; sets in the 149 to 200 range limit the amount that anyone can buy when there are 5 sets a month coming out. I thought last month's dispatches were great and there seem to be less of them, that might be a trend!

Tom,
I've noticed the increase in pricing as well, what I would comment on is that with the softness in the secondary market some very nice older sets are going for nearly the retail price of current sets making it a good time to back fill those empty spots in our collections.

Now Brad.
That is fighting talk. Trophy made a great Charge and more to the point I may be able to get my hands on them really soon. Just for balance I do have a standing order for all the K and C ones as well.

I have collected K&C for five or six years now.Until K&C UK released the Charge i had only ever collected WW2,as soon as i saw the pictures i was hooked. They are all absolutely superb figures and still the only non WW2 figs i collect.

Sorry, probably shouldn't have said it. I haven't seen the Trophy charge but do have one of the Frontlines (got it by accident) and it's quite nice. I just think I haven't seen anything quite like the K & C Charge.
