Hi Guys,

Just thought I would share a few more of the figures that I have gotten out of the boxes. Still have a lot more to get out and shelving to acquire so this will be a very slow process.

Anyway here are the figures I have been picking up for my Thin Red Line display.

The bulk of these are collectors club figures.

Enjoy

Dave

If you enjoy "The Red Red Line" toy soldiers from the Crimean War period go to: wmhocker.com and look under "Dispatches" The Thin Red Line - Alexander Jordan
for some fun toy soldiers pics we posted of this particular battle.
You'll sure to apprectiate em'! -ozziep9

Very nice Dave.

The Crimean War is one of my favorites also. I reconize the Britains figures because I have them in my collection, but who makes the firing highlanders?

Wm. Hocker makes standing firing 93rd Highlanders from the Crimean War period with the old Britains glossy "special paint" style of the 1930's.

Take a look at Wm. Hocker set #40 93rd Highlanders at: wmhocker.com

Very nice, Dave. I wish Britains were more "organized" in serving this range and would allow me (and others) to complete a whole scene. :smile2:

Dave,

Thanks very much for sharing your 93rd Highlanders of the Thin Red Line which is one of my favourites.

As Andanna has pointed out, it does take a while to collect enough figures to form up the line as Britains releases the figures as singles one at a time.

Raymond.:)

Nice collection of the Highlanders. I choose them for my club figures and hope to see more of them coming out. I need more firing guys like you have. My last one was a Highlander loading. Thanks for the pictures. John

I am sure they are Britains, were they not available as a Collectors Club exclusive?

The officer, piper & standing at ready are all CC figures. The flagbearer is part of the Redcoat series, but I don't reconize the standing firing figures. Plus, I think if they were Britains, I don't think their kilts would be a different color.

Scott is correct the standing firing figures are collectors club only redcoats! I have 3 of them very nice.

Thought so but couldn't confirm from work. Are they different regiments do you know Craig hence the colour difference, they do seem a little different than the CC figure.

The bonnets, cuff detail and detail on the socks seem different.

No they definitely are from the same regiment Scott, The 93rd Sutherland Highlanders. I think the difference in the details you mentioned are more to do with the fact some of the earlier figures were made in the factory that had the fire where the newwer ones were made somewhere else. Ether that or they have been sculpted by different people? Maybe someone from britains could explain the reasons?

Hi Guys,

These are all Britains figures. The firing line guys were from the collector club special issue they did in 2010 It was number 50020C And was very limited in number so when I saw them I decided to go ahead and order 4 so I could build a nice looking firing line. I wish I had ordered 4 of the guy loading as well but I also wanted the 95th Rifles guy so I just ordered one of each for the additional rate from the club. I didnt notice the difference in the paint until I snapped the photo I dont have an explaination for this other than the guess about the different factories. Needless to say i am just happy that they keep producing them as part of the club and some in the Red Coats Line. Just hope the do some more regular issues and let us beef up the line a bit more. Would also love some Russian Hussars for them to engage. Fingers crossed{sm4}

Dave

I also have a pretty good selection of the Charge of the Light Brigade figures if any one is interested in seeing them I will post some photos here, let me know.

Very interesting. I checked through all my catalogs etc. and could not find anything on this figure. ^&confuse

I wonder what year it was available. I take it that they were available as an individual figure. Do you know if it was advertised as being from the Crimean War?

Hi Skeeterbuck,

I will have to look up the exact dates of pre-order/release, but I believe it was made available for order early in 2010. There was either a flyer or an ad that came in one of the Club Standard packages. I will dig through my papers this weekend and see if I can find them. They produced it as a Crimean Figure and it was limited to 400 I believe. Thats why I ordered it as soon as I saw it. I have missed out of figures in the past and dont like to go to ebay to hunt them down because in the last case of missed sets it took me 9 years to find them and I really dont want to go there again...

Dave

I see it appearing in the May 2010 Standard item 50020C (400 pieces) available for preorder and supposed to ship November 2010.

Dawg, I missed that one. Oh well, something else to keep an eye out for.
Thanks guys for the info. If any of you come accross one for sale or know where one is available, please let me know.

Chuck
