Thought it would be an interesting discussion to gauge the demand if King&Country went ahead and completed a 1/30 Polystone Stuka. O'le Howard aka NorthGatewoods
gave us some info from Brisbane last week stating the prototype looked promising, but nothing for sure yet. The other issue at the current moment may be the price of
this polystone warbird. To me if the price hovered around $399.00 I would be in on it no problem. Even though I and others may have the Figarti version I would think a K&C version would be extremely popular. Given the fact that only 99 were produced by Figarti and JJD backed off from production on their version. To me the door is still
wide open and welcome for this polystone Stuka if feasable. Imagine a Winter whitewash version and a Desert Stuka done as a 250 series release !!!
What say YOU ???????

PA, the real issue it seems with the Stuka is the gull shape wings, Andy mentioned the very difficult processs of making the wings and then once made the assembly and packageing and then shipping could put the price beyond what most will pay, not being a fan of a Stuka I asked what about a Corsair and the very same issues would apply. My short time with Andy left me with the impression that if K&C can solve these issues a Stuka will appear..never say never.
Wayne.

For me the Stuka not the be all end all and think kc would be better off making other planes witch will take less time to make and cheaper .To me people are getting put of by high prices in the hobby. Just my opinion

I forget what word Andy used, but on a couple of occasions he mentioned something like a 'price point' which was effectively the point beyond which many collectors would not venture. I am not sure whether we were talking specifically about the Stuka, but I suppose that the central question is whether the world is ready for a 400 dollar aircraft? It was also interesting how important the opportunity cost was to any discussion - that is, if production space is devoted to the Stuka, what does not get made?

I saw 3 of the Figarti versions sell between $439.00 - $450.00 a piece on E-Bay last week. The Stuka is not an "end all" plane as none of them are,but it is
very popular and in high demand in 1/30 scale by collectors. There is the $1,200.00 + wooden model available which this I would label as the world is not ready for aircraft. If it can be done for say $399.00 I would be in from the jump and am wondering how many others there are out there of the same opinion.
Especially those who did not get one of those 99 Figarti's made ! If it will be more of a burden than its worth then so be it,But I could envision 2 versions coming out
maybe in the 150,200, or 250 done per version making them limited yet attainable. So any others of the pro stuka opinion ????

I wouldn't say that as look at the Owl selling for $399.00. You have one of these don't you Neil ???

Putting feasibility of polystone aside, I believe there would be interest. In a way, it's almost become a holy grail. However, I'm sure there's a price point above which most will not go and I'm sure Andy knows what that is.

As an aside, I don't think you can draw a comparison between a wooden Stuka and a poly one as you're appealing to different collector segments. Moreover, that Stuka is overpriced as they sold originally at $995.

The Owl a much bigger plane mate than the Stuka and I did not pay full price as well , but if you look at the high priced items like the owl , typhoon and the Jagdtiger none of them have sold out :redface2:

A point Andy made in a non Stuka discussion was that it was not so much about whether something would sell out, because everything eventually sells. It was also about the speed that it sold.

I would venture to say this would be a rapid seller. Enough of me talking....Interested what others have to add.

To true and i guess in the current economic climate (GFC) that could take a while even if the Stuka is popular.

My guess PA in why the Stuka may not get made (at least for now) is the difficulties in shipping and manufacturing the bird (the gull shaped wings as Wayne mentioned), the end cost and the current economic climate worldwide as i mentioned in my previous post. That said, it will be popular and Andy may take a punt and do a limited release.

Think your right Tom

The beauty of price points is that they are relative to the love of this hobby. Your wish to have an item can (not always but sometimes) push you onward. When I got the Typhoon I thought that would be my price point and I would not be able to go further, but if I awake on the 1st of Aug and there is a B.P. Defiant awaiting my inspection that happens to cost a tad more, I can't sit here and say nope I'm not getting it.....my wife can but I can't:wink2:^&grin

There you go Rob....Bullseye !!!! A bigger plane requiring more polystone will cost more than the average size plan but.......It will be well worth it in the long run !

PA and Wayne WA will make two. Not sure if Brad was a yes.

Without giving away the exact price some may be interested to know the Jenkins Stuka would have come in over $400 but nearer to $500. Have no idea what pricing of a K&C one would be but I know the price is an issue. Price clearly affects how many may buy one.

If you want one I would suggest you indicate in this thread as this is going to be one of K&C's harder decisions.

Regards
Brett

SOLD
In a flash to me its one of the most iconic planes of WW2,Andy will do it he isn't a quitter and they will sell no matter the price.
