after 13 years...
with almost the original cast excluding Powers Booth and Ralph Richeson (deaths)...
HBO has produced and will air a 2 hour conclusion...
on May 31st...
to the unfinished 3 season abrupt cancellation...

I think this was one of the best westerns ever...

you can binge all 3 season on On Demand HBO...

love me some Ian McShane...^&grin

I won't post the trailer because of the language...
but it's easy to find on your own...

here is the Wiki synopsis of the upcoming movie...

I saw the release announcement last night on TV . . . . . ITS ABOUT TIME . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Thanks for the heads up Mike. Looks like SKY ATLANTIC will broadcast the film in the UK

All the best

Martyn:)

Great news ! That deserves opening a can of peaches...…..with maybe some cinnamon on top.

they had another catch phrase that I can't post on here that was a staple of the show...CS...^&grin
I think this is one of the all time best westerns ever...

Thanks again Mike. The movie is on SKY ATLANTIC this Saturday 1st of June at 9pm

All the best

Martyn

cool Martyn...
it's coming on here in the States Friday night...
I can't believe they gathered up almost all of the original cast...
or that almost all of them are even still alive...
I just binged the first 3 season to get refreshed...
and I can't believe after all this time...
that I finally recognized Trixie on Deadwood...
Al Swerengen's main prostitute...
as Abby Donovan...
Ray Donovan's wife...
on Ray Donovan...
HBO has really set a lot of careers in motion with their excellent "made for HBO series"...

after 13 years...
with almost all the original cast excluding Powers Booth and Ralph Richeson (deaths)...
it's amazing that they worked out a deal with the original cast...

Powers Booth played Cy Tolliver...the owner of the Bella Union Hotel...
Ralph Richeson played Richardson...the disheveled, eccentric cook at the hotel owned by E. B. Farnum...

I owned a restaurant for 27 years...
could you imagine this guy in the kitchen cooking your food?^&grin
2 thumbs up for the chef!

I somehow missed this show when it was originally aired. But your enthusiasm encouraged me to give it a try. So I watched the first four episodes of season one yesterday (interpreted only by an annoying tornado warning). Good show. I keep trying to remember what other shows some of these actors that look so familiar were in. Funny how difficult it is to place them out of context. For example, I was wracking my brain about the the actor who played Jack McCall who shot Wild Bill. Turns out he is the same guy from Fear the Walking Dead.

Doug...

in my opinion it is one of the best Westerns ever...
it has a realism like nothing else I have ever seen...
this is a gritty...bloody...hard life they portray in Deadwood...

HBO has launched a lot of careers...
you might record the conclusion Friday night...
and work your way through seasons 1-3 before you watch it...

I do like the realism even if some of the characters are a bit fanciful (and a few have those pearly white TV teeth). It must have been quite a miserable experience with the elements, muddy/dusty roads, lack of basic hygiene. I imagine some of those folks were pretty ripe. Did anyone ever write a history of profanity? I wonder how many of those words used in the show would have been historically accurate for that time period - but maybe I have to too much time on my hands.

the historical accuracy of the curse words...
who knows...
you should do a thesis on that...^&grin

between Al and Mr. Wu...it's rampant...

Wu only knows two words throughout the series...
one of them is a curse word that he uses profusely...

the guy cast to play E. B. Farnum...
was a stroke of genius...
gotta be the sleaziest character in the history of cinema...

what I find interesting...
is the choice of words they use in their conversations...
some thought was used in their vernacular by the script writer...
they use a lot of words that are antiquated by today's standards...
more than once I would have to rewind to understand exactly what they were saying...

as far as pearly whites...
for every good dental smile you see...
you will see 10 rotten smiles...
