Are there any members of the John Jenkins Designs Collectors Group on Facebook that could copy the daily advent calendar postings over to the Treefrog forum?

Thanks,

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

as requested, the first 2 sketches from Facebook, both from the War of 1812, but I'm sure they would fit in nicely with a Peninsular War setup?

John,

Many thanks! I'm over the moon that John is revisiting the War of 1812. It's my favourite series that he did. General Riall served in the West Indies before arriving in Canada, but he could be used as a general British general. Likewise, the ADC is a very versatile figure. I'd have to doublecheck my uniform references, but I think either of these figures could be used from the Peninsular War through the Hundred Days campaign.

Cheers,

Brendan

Jacobite Rebellion is making a comeback. Thank you John. Now I am praying for some Jacobite artillery

Would really like to see John bring back the Collector's Club. We are sorely lacking for certain personality figures that could be produced via the club. In particular, Col. Henry Bouquet and Pontiac for the Bushy Run series. And I really liked having a limited numbers of figures produced.

Brendan,

thanks for your kind wishes for St. Barbara's Day.

On last Friday night I attended our annual St. Barbara's Day Feast in the drill hall of my old Regiment here in Perth.

It was the only social gathering of members of the Gunner's Association this year, and we still have a good turnout from veterans and serving members of the current battery. It was a special dinner this year to commemorate the Regiment's 150th Anniversary of Artillery in Australia, just like you had in Canada. We heard about the future of artillery in Australia and in particular the local battery and continued support role within the modern Army and great time to meet up with old comrades and enjoy the hospitality of the Mess.

Regards,
John

Opps,

sorry Mike, but when I get them it is in the morning, which is night time the day before, for you, but that does therefore mean I'm a day in front (of you) :) :)

I'm really loving seeing those sketches of John's it really shows his thoughts for design and gives us all an insight into the coming year and things to look forward to, which is what we need these days.

Conquest of America

Of the 13 Advent Calendar sketches I have received so far from John, this was one of the sketches that was a total surprise for me. Who would have thought John would consider the Norse influence in the Conquest of America range? The Norse Greenlanders called the indigenous people of Vinland, Skraelings (circa 1000 AD). Although John has identified this figure as part of the Conquest of America range, there is certainly a "same time frame" overlap with the Age of Arthur range. Eric the Red/Leif Eiriksson 😉. By the way . . . this wasn't the only surprise . . .

The Skraeling figure is a very interesting choice! I’ll be getting into John’s Viking range early next year when the Viking ship comes in (it was too cool not to order) and now I’m picturing a group of Skraelings attacking the ship… As you said Mike, it’s an interesting crossover between the Conquest of the Americas range and the Age of Arthur/Viking ranges 😎

Fantastic. Some Persian infantry to add to the Thracians, Persian cavalry and up and coming Scythians. With more Greeks and Macedonians I can foresee a vibrant and colourful diorama.

Macedonian Phalanx

I have been lobbying John for a Macedonian Phalanx for many years. I think he has sculpted some already so maybe next year we can expect a release.
I collected the First Legion Macedonian Phalanx and Companion Cavalry figures but JJD's would be a great addition.
Probably need 24 to 30 figures for a decent Phalanx representation and of course a bunch of Persians. TG has some nice Persians that would go well and
John's Persian cavalry is already in my collection.
You can't do Ancients without "Alexander" so the time is right!
