The LRDG selected sites to be emergency caches of food, water and petrol.
Somewhere like this may have been one.

Sarge, going by the tracks over there, the mess round the back of the rocks, the Camel dung and the remains of this camp fire I reckon there were Arabs here recently.

OK Corporal, The water in the Well don't taste too good, but we'll make our cache just over there.

Everyone mount up there's dust being kicked up by something over to the West......

More to follow.

Nice subject and great job, Steve!:salute:: The L.R.D.G. has always been one of my favorite units.

Cheers Louis. Yes those men certainly were tough, such as Moore and Tigne. Especially the New Zealander Moore.

Yep Rat Patrol all over again Steve. Good story going on here. Robin.

Thanks Robin.

You'd like reading some of the real life experiences of these units, LRDG, SAS and Popski's Private Army I think, far better the fictional.

Outstanding scene-that's such a great theme from WWII

Looking forward to this "SAGA', Steve.
The DAK and 8th Army have always been of keen interest and the LRDG stands out by their tales and adventures in WWII desert war.

Nice setup and display of the desolation in the desert.

Pushing the Italians back from their attack a British light Tank opens up spraying the Italians with Machine gun fire.

The fight soon goes out of the Italians who surrender in droves.

Oddly enough no manufacturer seems to do surrendering Italians, though you can get Americans, British, Germans, Japanese and Russians surrendering

Steve

Surrendering Italians and French are necessary for every conflict that are involved in (and probably a few they aren’t) Lol 😂. All the tough Italians moved to the Bronx and Brooklyn about 120 years ago and all the tough French moves to Louisiana about 220 years ago.

Steve mate, if you ask Andy nicely I'm sure he'd consider it, however I've no idea how popular they would be?

Great set up by the way, using the now classic K&C desert Vickers and 8th Army blokes. ^&grin

Still can't believe what the Vickers (Desert & Green) sell for these days even in this market.

Looking forward to round 3 in this saga.

Cheers Toddy.
Probably not a huge number of people wanting huge numbers surrendering Italians, but if price was kept down like on IDF and Pacific /Vietnam Marines since they'd not require much in way of equipment and no weapons. Maybe walking hands up or sitting dejectedly.
Yes next installment soon. {sm4}

Good one Louis, but they'll tell you they're lovers not warriors ^&grin^&grin^&grin

Steve

Makes me want to play in the sand. Excellent!

Haha ^&grin Isn't particularly warm or sunny outside today, Wet and very windy. So doing a Western Desert scene brightens the day up.

Part 3

With the Germans coming to the Mussolini's aid and pushing the British back across the Egyptian border, Rommel sends out scouts to find possible alternative water supplies due to his own lack of motorised transport and much of his supplies being intercepted as the are ferried either by Sea or Air from Italy.

Heinz and Otto reach the well and find the water just about palatable and great for cooling their feet in.

More Axis troops concentrate to use the well.

This build up being spotted by the LRDG, Empire troops attack.

I enjoy seeing your desert collection, Steve. Some pieces I'm familiar with while others I have never scene. Great shots!
