Rob regarding getting there early, the earliest train i could get was a 7.30 from Wakefield to St Pancras, and it didn't go straight into London, it went via Sheffield,Derby,Leicester,Kettering, then London, quite a trip over 3.5hrs and affordable at a single of £25,but some of the Train companies are having a laugh at some of their ticket prices,i was quoted a single return 1st class of £308 about $525 at todays prices:eek:Then managed to get 2 train tickets for 2 different companies for my different trips, complicated, expensive, and to top it all off a 7to9 percent increase next year in fares.I could limit my trips to London,i could use these funds for more K&C:rolleyes:
Anybody who hasn't been to St Pancras,i am no trainspotter, but its pretty jaw dropping for a railway station:)
regards Steve

Couldn't agree more,i think you are putting it in a very polite way when you say 'Having a laugh' with their ticket prices!.At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

St Pancras is a lovely station now isn't it,wonderful roof and great range of shops.Much nicer than the old Kings cross i had to use.

Another great show. Managed to meet up with Rob ,Glyn, Bob (and of course, the delightful Trudi), James (at long last!), Clive, Tony (who was present for the entire show this time - well done mate), Dispatch Dave, the Neville Clan, Mark and David from TM, Andy C. and of course, Shannon. Enjoyed catching up with you all. Managed to miss a few of the other forum members in attendance - must get better at this organisational thing.

Managed to spend way more than I intended and ended up taking home, from K&C, the EA09 Eigth Army set (can't be long before it's retired - that's my excuse anyway), the EA Crusader, the Russian Tank riders, a couple of the Big Red 1 guys and a Brit Para. Also got the Wittman CC figure at a reasonable price. I ordered the Full Monty from Clive at the Figarti stand. Luckily he realised what I meant, otherwise that might have been a weird show. Got some scenic bits from JG, masonary for the Arnhem houses and some of the ferns (thanks for the recommendation Reb!). Got some recast Herald 7th Cav for my lad for Christmas (I just need to get my finger out now and build the fort) and lastly, a Conte terrain piece - the garage in the bocage, which you hardly ever see this side of the water.

The 'question time' for TSTV was informative and entertaining (coming soon to a web channel near you) and the K&CUK evening bash was excellent. I'll cover that tomorrow,

All in all, a good, if expensive day.

Simon

The set comes with a full monty and a half monty so I am told

Reb, everyone, thanks for posting your observations from the London show, I was interested to see that you're seeing the same thing that we've seen here at a number of shows since the summer, that at least in our hobby, there are deals to be made, collectors are still buying figures, and vendors and manufacturers are happy to oblige.

Prost!

Great great show.
Wonderful experiance catching up with Rob, Wraith ,Easy Hoogri etc.

The vendors are great, willing to share their knowledge & time, Shannon was great to talk to and thanks again for the TF pin!

K&C UK evening yet another winner, Andy also is great to talk with. Looking forward to 2009!

Mr Walker of Walkerloo is one of the most nicest people to talk to and I can recommend his figures as a way of teaching history and encouraging younger collectors.

Shame that John Jenkins was not in attendance this time but he was well represented by the TM Terrain boys and they robbed me blind but with a smile on my face. Please, please don't tell the world about Johns fine fine figures they may run out before I can buy them!

Once again great show.
(Did I say it was great):)
