Delhi Durbar 1903 (2 Viewers)

Randy, Ana designed the banner for her exhibitions/show tables several years ago. Please check the earlier contributions in this thread, starting at #15. Sorry you missed that.

Ana has generously shared her background with us and I am certain she will not object to me sending you the file by e-mail if you want it - it is rather small.

She actually combined various pictures using Photoshop and hence the picture quality depends on which part of the banner you are looking at. I personally like it at lot, and the different picture qualities within the banner do not bother me at all.

Until several months ago, I used a smaller banner. The new one is 50 inches long and 15.5 inches high. This reflects the original ratio of width/height of the file.

My colllection, like Dave N's, is displayed on a ledge and the Red Ford works very well.

I am not certain that in the next step (not unrealistically assuming the collection will grow some more ), I need to extend the background (again). Not sure I will use the banner for the additional width, I think some older houses from Delhi to the left and right of the banner might also work ... Something like the JG Miniatures houses.

Hi Andreas,

You know quite well how much I enjoy Beau Geste Delhi Durbar figures so you must also know I think your display is outstanding! The use of Ana's backdrop adds much depth and beauty to your display. I enjoy viewing the display very much!

Much like Randy, I would be thrilled to have the backdrop file provided to you by Ana. Is it possible you might also send me the file of Ana's background? I will very much appreciate having it.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Dave N.'s and Pat W.'s Delhi Durbar collections are slightly intimidating as to their size. But these two have been collecting this range for a while ...

Time for photos of a much smaller and more modest collection. Liked Dave's it is on a very small ledge and unfortunately the narrow space of the landing does not allow full shots of the display.

A very impressive collection Andreas, thank you for sharing it !! The new Laura figures go very nicely with the BG collection as well.

Hi Andreas,

I see you have been steadily adding to your Beau Geste Durbar collection. Congratulations on your new acquisitions! The figures and your display are incredibly beautiful! I am very grateful you are sharing your fine collection with us. As you know, I never tire of viewing the wonderful Durbar figures.

And,...I should add,...your Durbar collection is far from modest! ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I'm a big Durbar fan
will be buying elephant of Sikkim and soldiers at end of this month
I was at Jim Hillstead's museum in Pen. once (AWSOME)
I sent email to Ana once asking about Lord Curzon on state elephant
she told me they don't like to make what other makers have done
but they keep in mind if decide to make one she will let us know
Talking with Shannon this afternoon to put my order in
i mention that to her, also about gun of Baroda and bullocks
she will let her know never thought about that she said
As far as i am concern Malborough and Britains made one
also their size are different they don't match good
if more people would ask for it guaranty they would make one
SO BG Dubar collectors time to ask for it
was'nt Lord Curzon the center of the Durbar WE NEED ONE
Very nice pictures by the way Maple Leaf

Hey Guys,
I am starting to collect the BG Durbar line and am real enjoying it. I have just a few sets so far, but i was wondering: What is the availability of the elephants from Treefrog? Do you have to order them special or are they in stock at times? Also, are the elephants packed well and have you had any problems with damage? Thanks. I will post some photos soon. Ana and her crew do excellent work.

We try to stock all the elephants, so once one sells we get a new one ordered from Ana right away. If you want one that we are out of stock, let us know and we'll have them move it to the front of the queue.

They are packed very well!

Hi JW,

I have enjoyed purchasing some of the Beau Geste Durbar elephants from Treefrog. In every instance, the elephant I wanted to purchase was in stock. Further, each elephant arrived at my doorstep wonderfully packed and in perfect condition. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate for an instant to order a Beau Geste elephant from Treefrog!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi JW,

And,...I am really looking forward to viewing your shelf/display!

By the way, have you decided which elephant you plan to order? Whichever elephant you plan to purchase, I bet it will not be your last one! :D The Beau Geste elephants are superb and you will endlessly enjoy adding them to your collection. Please keep us informed as your Durbar collection grows!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat, I am seriously thinking about BG250
Elephant Band of Orchha, Retainers Review. It looks
spectacular! Do you have this one or any elephants
that you enjoy over the others?

Good choice :D, although I do not collect the Beau Geste Durbar, if I ever did, I would definitely start with this one. Pat does have that one, and I believe it is quite special. I will leave it to him to tell you the rest :)

Hi JW,

As Scott has noted, yes, I have the Elephant Band of Orchha. And,...yes, it is quite spectacular.

From my perspective, choosing any of Ana's Durbar Elephants is an exciting event and an excellent place to begin developing your Durbar collection. Each one has individual characteristics and features that make them very, very special.

Scott also mentioned that my particular elephant is even more special. Let me explain. In the normal routine of producing a Beau Geste Elephant, Ana paints the very first one. Using Ana's elephant as a model, one of her most skilled and trusted artists usually paint the subsequent ones. The specific elephant I own is the single Elephant Band of Orchha painted by Ana Donzino. Ana always places a special mark of sorts on her work in order to later identify it as the one she painted. In my case, Ana was also kind enough to supply me with written documentation that my elephant is the one she painted. How lucky can a guy get? :)

I have attached below a few photos of my Elepant Band from Orchha for your review. Having some additional photos of the elephant may help you decide for certain if the Elephant Band of Orchha is the one you wish to purchase first. I will follow this post with a couple more posts of additional photos of my elephant.

Please enjoy the pictures and let me know what you finally decide to do. I shall look forward to hearing from you!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

The Elephant Band of Orchha is a beautiful set Pat, many thanks for the pictures

Cheers

Martyn:)

See I told you it was special :D :D Thanks Pat for your photos, it still makes me smile as much as it did when you first photographed it. If my budget wasn't taken up with the Zulu War I would be very tempted to start collecting BG. Maybe perhaps in a couple of years :)
