Delhi Durbar 1903 (1 Viewer)

Pat, Thanks for all your help and I appreciate your advice. i will contact you in the future.

thebritfarmer you were absolutely right :D & I know what you mean about hard on the budget. I have halted a couple lines to focus on this. Trophy is getting so expensive and hard to find I am just keeping and enjoying what i have (with rare exception;))

In an attempt to save the little that is left of my sanity, I am limiting my collecting obsession on very narrow - but well defined - areas. As to the Delhi Durbar I have decided from the start to focus on the entry of the state elephants - which excludes the review of the retainers. I can recommend that approach as it limits the choices you have to make.

Andanna,
Great advice about limiting choice, but I lack your discipline :D. Your photos look great, I love your Durbar photos, very extensive. Has a good book been written on the topic? Thanks

Hi Scott,

Tommy's Beau Geste Durbar collection is both special and spectacular! Thanks for posting these photos. I shall examine them for days to come.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Great collection. As a purist, I appreciate that all are Beau Geste.

Hi Andanna. You wrote,
As a purist, I appreciate that all are Beau Geste.

Out of curiousity, and without any other intensions, I'd like to know what you mean when you say, 'As a purist.' There are a number of possibilities. :)

I would think that Andanna's meaning for purist
is that every elephants and figures that Beau Geste
has made is the real thing and they can show u a
picture of the figure or elephant dated from that erea
I questioned Ana on the Kashmir band and infantry
about their hat. she sent me an original photo of the
Kashmir infantry, there's the hat so i ordered both
i might be wrong but to me this is purist about Durbar series
Maybe Andanna can explain better
that's how i take it

Sorry for the late reply. I generally am not a fan of mixing the models of the different manufacturers. That is what I meant with the term "purist". But that is just my preference. Some collectors have mixed Marlborough, Beau Geste and britains successfully.

More difficult I suspect is integrating the Hocker figures as that is a) a different durbar and b) a very different style of figure.

But again: whatever makes you happy.

Got it Andanna. Too late is not often a critical item on this forum. Thanks for answering. I'm a mixer when it looks good to my eye :).

Cheers
