Delhi Durbar/Indian Army various makes (2 Viewers)

Gentle Friends,

Can I possibly succeed at posting a fourth picture? How about one of the Beau Geste Ladhaki Musician Monks flanked by the Ladhaki Devil Dancers?

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Gentle Friends,

Tired of the Delhi Durbar and my poor photograpy yet? No matter, I am going to post a couple more pictures anyway!

Hopefully, this picture will show one of the gun crews for Gaekwar's guns followed by a Marlborough set of 15th Ludhiana Sikhs Color Party.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Gentle Friends,

I did not care for the picture of the Musical Monks and Devil Dancers that I posted earlier, so I am posting one more picture of those sets. This picture is taken from the front of the parade line. I hope you can distinguish the figures a bit better than in my earlier picture.

Finally, I come to the end of those pictures I plan to post today. I'm sure all of you will breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy some rest! Thank you for your quiet patience during my frantic, frenzied moments of Durbar Madness! ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Oh My!

Pat you are a stinker showing those beautiful Devil Dancers off! I will have to post a few more pictures I guess so as to not be out done... ;)

Actually I really enjoyed seeing another Durbar set up with three different makers, they look wonderful and I think they do blend well together. I will be very glad when my latest victory arrives from Canada and even though I am susposed to wait until October for them I will have to inspect the sets and of course photograph them for posting. If you could be persuaded to take or rather post another shot of your stunning Beau Geste Elephant I am sure everyone would appreciate it:)

Good show my friend very good show indeed!

All the best

Dave

Hi Dave,

I'm glad you appreciate my modest accumulation of Durbar figures. As you know, I hope to acquire more of them in time.

What is this jazz about you need to post more pictures of your figures in order not be outdone by me? It is YOU who has the premier collection! The best I can do is sneak something in every so often about which I have not told you! I probably will not post any more pictures of my Durbar collection until next year! By waiting that long, I might sneak another set or two into my collection to take you by surprise!

You want another picture of the Kashmir Elephant? Do you want more of a close up? Do you want it removed from my curio cabinet so you can see it more clearly? Or, do you just want a better picture!

Let me know what you would like and I will attempt to accomodate you. ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi Jrsteel,

I have three WM Hocker sets, none of which are his Imperial Durbar series. I wish I owned some of his Durbar sets. The one Vamp purchased is incredible. I assume you have seen the pictures he posted? I am soooo jealous!

The three Hocker sets I do own are all still tied in the original boxes. Those three sets are:

Set # 6 - Royal Artillery Bullock Draught, Indian Army
Set #37 - Baggara Cavalry of the Sudan, 1882 - 1897, Nile Campaign
Set #45 - Royal Artillery, 13 inch Mortar

At some point, I will take a few pictures of these figures in their original boxes. I think you will like what you see, provided I can take a good picture of them.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Pat,

Well I'd love to see the Kashmir elephant up close but I doubt you'd loan it to me so I'll settle for another picture of it please, pretty please, pleeeese!!!! (This works with my wife but somehow I doubt you will fall into the trap! )

As for your Hocker sets those are all very nice sets! I would imagine they look really wonderful. One of these days I'm going to have to spring for the Observation Ballon or one of his Elephant batteries that actually shoots a projectile! I will even let my son watch me play with that one!

Anyway, you know I love seeing the Durbar stuff and talking about it with anyone who'll listen. So keep the great pictures coming!

All the best

Dave

Pat I'm thinking of starting to collect Hocker's Am Revolution sets. I keep hoping Britains will make a line of soldiers like they used to. I was looking at Wm Hocker's website the other day and I realized, geez this is what I'm looking for.

Oh Jrsteel,

You have to be careful if Pat tells you go check out some website it can be very very bad for your budget!:D I thinks its part of his plan to distract me from my Durbar set hunt but watch out just the same hes pretty tricky!:D :D :D

I too love the Hocker look at they will go together quite will with any of the old traditional Britains. The Hocker sets i absolutely love are mentioned before but he has so many others that you could really build a fantastic collection if you have a ton of cash that is. But they are really wonderful!

All the best

Hi Jrsteel,

First of all, don't listen to Dave. He possesses some strange idea that I have some kind of influence over his expenditures. All I have ever done is respond to his requests and questions. For example, he asked me where he could view some of the Samurai figures I collect and I answered his question. He returned from that site complaining that I was making him purchase Crimean War figures! Do you see any connection between the Samurai question and the Crimean War? Don't even ask how he responded to me assisting him with his request regarding mounted knights!

William Hocker produces some of the very nicest and most creative traditional toy soldier figures and sets that are available today. For example, his "Washington Crossing the Delaware" set is actually a pull toy. When you pull the boat across a surface, the men begin to row the boat. Many of his wonderful sets include this delightful, toy like quality, which reflects this gentle man's personality. His work is on the pricey side, but it is, ohhhh so wonderful and delightful. If you decide you want to begin to collect Hocker products, send me a private message to that effect and I might be able to assist you with one of my referrals of which Dave is so fond! ;)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Jeff,

:D :D :D

Doubtless, you have made a very accurate assessment of Dave's real motives! I think Dave would even admit it, if you asked him directly! After all, his wonderful Durbar collection is so "Elephant poor!" Did you see the picture of the great Marlborough Durbar Elephant that Dave recently acquired? It is a beautiful piece!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat Thank you for all the great pics. What the heck is a Geakwar? What is the elephant on the far right of the elephant pics? I have the other two.

Dave, This should be here this week.

Just ordered two Lil' Army molds. British private firing and a ACW Zouave firing

Hi Vamp,

The elephant on the far right is W. Britains Set #08956 - Duke and Duchess of Connaught on State Elephant. It is nice, isn't it?

Now, about the Gaekwar. "Gaekwar" is the hereditary title of the ruling princes of Baroda. Baroda is a city in the southeastern part of the Indian state of Gujarat. Now you know!

I am soooo envious of your acquisition of the Amphitheater and the Hocker Elephant set! You have done very well in expanding your Durbar collection! In spite of my envy, let me communicate my compliments for your good fortune!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi KV,

Very glad to hear you will receiving the Dias set soon! Its huge and will figure well in your very nice display.

I guess if Pat wont loan me his Kashmir Elephant that I shouldnt ask to borrow yours either.:D

I really am enjoying how popular the Durbar is becoming with folks on this site. The series is certain great to look at!

Have a great day and enjoy those new molds too.

All the best

Dave
