While I'm seriously thinking about starting the Sudan collection in 2012 I decided to build a destroyed house of the desert village for the end of the year. At the moment only few sailors and Mahdists fight among the walls.
Happy New Year!!!

WOW, that is beautiful! That is definitely one of the best desert structures I have EVER seen! How did you build it?

Carlo...the ruined building is stunning...your work is superb...another winner...your JJD's look great with it...

Many thanks to all,
indeed it is a recycling job. In fact the idea came to me looking at a PC polystyrene interior packaging, a split side gave me the vision of a broken wall. All started from that image.
By the same way I build some houses in desert style. It’s a funny job. I’ll try to post other pictures waiting the midnight!
Ciao

If you post more pics, I might try to make something similar, though I have one question- how did you do the design on the second floor?

Thank you Sandor,
I downloaded a picture from Internet, then I scaled down and multiplied it to make a pavement.
The next pictures show other buildings I made recently, for them I used Polystyrene sheets of course.

Would never have guessed it was polystrene. I was thinking wall board or some hand-molded stucco / plaster patch material. Stunning ^&grin^&grin !!!!

I will have to think about the merits of modeling with polystrene.

some more

Carlo...all three buildings are spectacular...you're so talented...now that you have a nice Middle Eastern group of buildings...I think you have to buy the JJD's to go with them...

What treatment is covering the polystrene --- just paint or is there a "patch" material?

Thank you Ken,
yes the walls have a substantial finish of stucco...

Thank you Mike,
I'm deciding what figures to get first... I think the Gordon's Officer, very nice!

...last pictures follow

RICOSTRUZIONE MOLTO SUGGESTIVA!!!!
Complimenti e Auguri di Buon Anno!!!
Giovanni

Hi,
How do you do your doors and windows? I really like your buildings, so I might do the ultimate flattery and copy your techniques!
Ciao,
Sandor:salute::

grazie Giovanni,
un FELICE e SERENO 2012 anche a te!!

Sandor,
I build them from balsa and paint or, easily, I download pictures (see enclosure) and reduce them like the floor, at last I finish with a balsa frame.

Very cool idea, Carlo. I like the pictures combined with balsa, as it gives detail but also a 3D feel!

Ok, if I am understanding this correctly, the door is a photo of a door, reduced in size and then mounted in a balsa frame and then attached to the building?

Brilliantly beyond brilliant.

correct Ken, I myself I could not explain it better!
...and I added red card curtains on the windows, a touch of oriental colors.
