Desert ruins (1 Viewer)

Fantastic piece of work there, congratulations!

I particularly like the details such as the tiles. Great job and fabulous combination of materials.

See - this is the sort of thing that gets me in trouble. I look at these cool buildings and then think about a nice little skirmish game with 50 or so figures and then I'm into another scale.

These are going to look really good when you finish your collection, not that they don't already look really good.

I think your first choice of the officer is a good one. I like that one too.

Thanks for sharing some of your ideas for the windows and doors.

Matthew

Thank you Uncas, thank you Matt,
Not satisfied of the single officer really I was gone too far …from the pictures you can see the outcome,
I lost control!

Oh - you have to keep going now. Those roof tops are looking lonely.

You know what this set up reminds me of? The old black and white movie where the unit has to go into town to repair downed telegraph wire. The town looks deserted, but soon the enemy swarms out from everywhere and there is a great fight / chase over the roof tops. Yes, I cannot recall the title since a lot of the old Errol Flynn movies bleed together as my memory fads with age. But I think everyone recalls something similar in one of the desert movies like Gunga Din or such.

This would look so cool with swarms of natives and some British trying to retreat in good order. The nice thing is that John is releasing a lot of good natives this year, so you will be able to fill this set up as much as you like.

Again, really nice stuff.

Matthew

Oh, and I wanted to ask where you got the trees. Did you make those too?

I bought these nice palm trees to a swapmeet from a guy who (he said) makes them with his own hands. He did not want to reveal the secret of making the leaves. Last time I got three trees and I hope to meet him at the next meeting to buy more.
Ciao

I hope you do find more. They are nice. Can you give us a close who of the trees? Thanks.

Carlo does such nice work...the damaged building is a masterpiece...I'm so jealous...Matthew...you're right...it was Gunga Din...great show...

Thanks Mike - I thought it was, but just could not place it. I just think that would be a fun little scenario to play, especially if it allowed for all the jumping across roof tops hollywood style.

Matthew

Matt,
sorry for the delay, here are the palm tree pictures. Really I have seen similar items elsewhere, I think that guy has never made these. Luckily his price was cheaper!

Besides the skill shown in building the actual models and the technical aspects of constructing the building, the architecture and design elements for each of the buildings are very pleasing to the eye.

Thank you for the close up of the palm trees. They are really detailed. I would love to be able to find some of these.

If anyone recalls who makes them, please let us know.

Matthew

Carlo...well done again...your little architectural touches make these really unique...the tall inset arched doorway...the moulding over the door...the raised structure with the dome on top...really nice work...you have a small village made...so now I know you will collect Sudan to show off your figures...keep up the great work...

I missed this thread the first time through.

Carlos
