Release Notes March 2013

Welcome to March releases for Thomas Gunn, once again a small release but great things come in small packages so they say!

The long awaited French Foreign Legion finally arrive this month amongst great excitement. Thank you for all your emails regarding these figures and yes there will be more figures coming later in the year including Arabs for our legionnaires to go up against! We decided to opt for the classic Beau Geste period for this new range which encompasses the late 1800’s to 1916 when the legion switched over to a khaki uniform. Depending on the success of this series we plan to launch into other eras and cover plenty of classic battles in which the legion took part. All in all a series with huge potential and one which we are all very excited about at Thomas Gunn to be participating in. Kicking off the series are six new figures as follows:

French Foreign Legion Series

FFL001: A two man set comprising a Sgt Major firing his pistol and a Bugler issuing orders on the battlefield.

FFL002: Kneeling legionnaire and prone firing rifleman

FFL003: Standing firing legionnaire with a kneeling rifleman.

All the above sets are $69 each, limited to 100 sets and available now!

Scramble for Africa

Following on from our French boys in blue we also launch a new series of British redcoats suitable for the 1st Boer or the Zulu Wars whichever you prefer. We will be releasing Boer figures to add to these sets at a later date. These figures are 54mm in size and designed to compliment Britain’s or the Conte range of figures and as such are designed to fill the gaps in these two ranges. Four figures will launch this range and are as follows:

SFA001 Kneeling officer with pistol and 24th Regiment of Foot soldier with officer’s sword defending the colours. Priced at $75, limited to 100 sets worldwide and available now.

SFA002 Comprises two running figures; one in standard issue jacket without hat and the other dressed in grey shirt holding onto his hat as they run forward to assist their comrades.

Limited to 100 sets worldwide, priced at $69 and ready for immediate dispatch.

Rolls Royce Armoured Car

The above did not catch the boat in time for shipping but will be available early April or even late March.

Sold out sets

I am pleased to say that GW011/012 German A7 tanks seem to have been very well

received. We have sold out of Cyclops and have only 3 of Schnuck after less than four weeks of being available on the open market. Thank you for all those who bought from us, it does show there is a market for WW1 vehicles even if it’s not quite so popular as WW2 yet!

The following sets also sold out here at Gunn HQ in February and are now no longer available from us but will no doubt be available from some dealers:

SS029B – Mine Clearers Part 1

GEB002A – Advance to Attack Part 1

ATW006A – Mohican 30 calibre gunner

GW003 – Bergmann MG team

FJ004B – Knock out Blow

NAP005A – Imperial Guard

GEB003B – Gebirgsjager Advance to Attack Part 2

GC010A and B – Karl F.

PARA006 – Sniper Team

This means that all the NAP sets 001 – 10 are now sold out here plus NAP021 and NAP022 which sold out quicker here than anything else we have previously made.

Gunn Club Update

With over 1200 registered Gunn Club members on our database, Thomas Gunn wants to reward those Gunn Club members who buy direct thru our website. We will therefore be launching a new series of Gunn Club figures. These beautiful looking figures will be released on a regular basis and will be free to the first 100 Club members, who spend $150 or more thru the TGM website, in the month that the figure is released . We kick off with SS Obersturmbannfuhrer Max Wunsche who commanded the 12th SS HitlerJugend during its defence of Normandy.

April should see the release of Generaloberst Dietl with Allied and Napoleonic figures making an appearance later in the year.

Further information can be found on our website under the Gunn Club section, which will be undated later today.

Thank for posting the photos mate . Very nice set of figures

Very nice releases and two new series!!!!!!!!
Max Wunsche will be more than welcome in my collection !!!!!!
guy:)

Whilst I am sure they will be popular with collectors these two new ranges to TG my first reaction was the size of the pistol on the officer and the hand on the flag bearer from the Zulu range. Apart from that they look nice figures

it may be the picture but, I think Wunsche is the First WWII figure that I am not too keen on!!

I do however like the static grass/flock being placed upon the bases.
Mitch

Easy choice this month, want the lot, thanks Wayne & Tom{sm4}, cheers, Robin.

Those French Foreign Legion Figures look to be some of TG's best sculpts done to date. Nice job ^&cool

I am puzzled about the number of pieces released, it seems to me that for a popular theme like the Foreign Legion 100 units of firing figures is too scant.

I think Mitch the officer should have a big gunn given who is making these and what's in the hand of the Zulu bearer will distract the eye. Very enthused about these 2 new lines for TG, this company is expanding all thru my collection and is fast becoming my second biggest provider. Go Tom{sm4}, cheers, Robin.

Napoleonic figures making an appearance later in the year.

This is good news....... :)

We have seen masters of the Hanovarian Luneberg Light Batalion so I'd expect it will be them, but what else has Tom got 'up his sleeve' ??????

Maybe cavalry ?????

Robin...

As I said the figures will be popular of that I have no doubt its just when you look at pictures or, when I do, these things spring into view.

What weapons are those 24th figures carrying? They're not Martini's. Too many errors being made by this company to be considered a force.

I disagree. I think TGM will be the one to watch, Some nice stuff has been coming from them of late.

Can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.

I also noticed the rifles on the 24th. They certainly aren't Martini's, not even close. The Martini is very distinctive, with the lack of a visible hammer and that long lever with the loop, underneath the stock. The TG rifles have NONE of the correct features. Odd and bad mistake to make. Also have an issue with the FFL sergeant's pistol. I know this has been mentioned before, but know that the time period for these figures has been fixed, the P-38 Walther is just plain wrong, (at least 22 years wrong). Should have just given him a French revolver like the Model 1892. -- Al

As an FFL fan, I have pre-ordered the 3 FFL sets so I'm just going to think of the FFL pistol as an early 1900's Luger such as the Parabellum 1908. Hopefully when TGM does an officer he will have the 1892 revolver.

While I'm not normally a stickler for 100 percent accuracy, the errors in the guns are egregious and I cancelled my FFL order.
