Dissapointed with K&C Dispatches! (1 Viewer)

A little perspective please. I am as hardcore a fan as they come, and I will probably get all the new Italians plus the two odd Germans that just came out. But the selection really baffles me.
The figures just keep getting better in terms of quality, but I am still trying to find the logic in this month's selections. Why another Pz. III? Why the guard and the sentry house? It does not make sense at all. And the Italians have no logical connection to each other or to the previous AK releases. I love Il Duce on horse (actually I have seen the photographs and posters from which the image comes). I love the Semovente, but the selection does not make sense. Are they supposed to be on parade (obviously not the Semovente)? If they are on parade, where? In Italy? In Lybia? And if so, when? 1931, 1938, 1940?

There is no historical thread to the figures. Let's remember that most of us collect K&C because there is a narrative and historical thread to the releases. I have been collecting for 10 years, and will continue to be a K&C collector, but the company has accustomed us to certain expectations, and this time I firmly believe they fell short.

And I hate it when some people dismiss our constructive criticism as nonsense. I think the criticism is valid.

I'm not sure I understand your criticism. Regarding the new AK releases, the remaking of a Panzer III affords those who didn't get the earlier one the opportunity to get one now. Regarding the guard house, maybe the description (guarding installations or airfields) is a tipoff to future releases.

The Italian Forces is a combination of marching Italian troops and a tank in action in the desert. The marching troops reminds me of a counterpart to the EA release of Churchill, etc. The Semovente is for North Africa and since these releases are labelled "IF," I'm sure they are just the beginning. I'm sure he doesn't want to overwhelm collectors all at once.

Gil, i am not hardcore of K&C, in fact, i had more than my fair share hanguring with fellow collectors, and even andy himself, regarding scale issue and such.

roll back the threads and you can read them.

but perhaps you should wait for a few days for the dispatch attachment to be released?

and how many criticism in this thread are even constructive?

take a poll if anyone felt John Gambale's post merits as constructive criticism.

Seems to me there's a beautiful new middle eastern gateway that a guard shack would look great next to and some italians marching thru would look just fine?
The Tankette to me is a quintisenial type of vehicle employed in the early war years when the blitzkrieg was a new concept and anything with tracks was advanced technology, a must have for anyone who's a fan of the desert war.

I'm disappointed Andy didn't include some Seminoles with that Semovente (C'mon, you guys were thinking the same thing) ;) :D

I want to agree with Brad (jazzeum) and do believe that out of the relatively few actively posting members compared to the total membership number on this forum, there are several who really do believe that they can influence manufacturer's decisions. I would say that it is fine to suggest things and if they come out then be happy and enjoy them. If they don't come go on for something else.
What astonishes me quite often is the "demanding" tone that sometimes comes up. The number of collectors here is nothing but a very very small fraction of the collecting world out there and for that we should just appreciate when any manufacturer feels comfortable to chat with us once in a while.

Excellent post.

Re: 'You can't always get what you want…"

Hi Guys,

This Forum, in all its many guises, is living proof of that old adage, “You can never please all of the people… all of the time”.

For some folks, you can never please them… anytime! Oh well, into every life a little rain must fall…

Constructive criticism is always welcome and frequently useful. However, the kind of blanket disappointments of Mr. Gambale are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things… I care about the great majority of collectors who take the time and trouble to actually read “DISPATCHES” fully and carefully before making their considered comments and judgments…

And that my friends… is that!

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

Yep theres no way K&C can please everyone every time.Still at least the large majority of folk who wanted Italian stuff are happy, silver linings and all that;)

Rob

I must fall into the "please SOME of the people ALL of the time" category as K&C always seems to release something each month that ends up on my must have list. This months Crusaders are just the latest example:cool:! Brilliant job Andy!

Its a great time to be a K&C Collector, great subjects and Fantastic figures and vehicles to collect, and just when you think our collective lot could not get any better,BAM,a new month arrives, with all the new and better than before releases.Dont know what there is to complain about,i just hope Andy lives to a hundred just so we can keep our collections going and that goes for Mike and Tony Neville, mind you Mike may have already surpassed that age,so good times all round and all thanks to KING AND COUNTRY.

I really like the guard with box and Italian Artillery!:D:eek:Might go for them:D

 Supply and Demand! CIAO!

I stand corrected; not the award winner I was hoping for.

Also have not a clue what he means with this.

Par for the coarse as I get the true meaning of about every other post of his.

Yes ...

We want the Emperor and The Pope ... and the Vatican Guards :p

.. or we wil be disappointed

I have been watching/ reading this thread for the past few days, And mind you it is just my opinion.
I think King and country did listen to some collectors about going into a liitle bit more on the WWII Italian range.
And in the process might have sacrificed a little bit of whatever profits they might have made. If lets say, they made a half-track (American, British, Or Canadian), Or A Sherman (calliope), Or a Panzer 4 (Normandy Colors). Any of these, would have been gobbled up by A lot more people, so would have been
more profitable for them, and quite I am sure, less of the complaining, and a lot more happier people. So be glad, K&C did the range, Be thankful they did the range. As for me, the Pz3 will be bought. But September will be a slow month in buying In The K&C side. And will buy more figarti (Priest, Sherman fording stack) for the month. And Again, be thankful. they did the range.
