Dissapointed with K&C Dispatches! (1 Viewer)

Clearly you have no right to complain that anyone else is hard to please :D

Terry

John,

Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be."

I really wouldn't sweat it. Seems to be the norm that marching and other unique figures get released in the first batch- take the WW1 line for example. I am assuming that KC is planning on putting forth more than just a token effort with this line- my assumption is based on the fact that the Italian figures have an "IW" (Italian Warrior?) identifier. It isn't like they appear to be a subset all to their own (and, would have say an "aK" identifier) much like the Candian, Free French and British do in the DDay line.

Very true. The new Italians are likely just the beginning of more great things to come and I for one think they're great, especially that SPG. Once again K&C comes thru for diehard collectors wishing to add depth to their collections by manufacturing more unsusual, obscure, rarely done subject matter. Kudos.
I noticed the prices are coming down a little, witness the Pz. III price and AK guard. Way to go K&C, a little recession releaf perhaps! It can be done folks, quality at reasonable prices. I wonder if other manufacturers are taking note?

I like the new items. I also like not getting killed with the retirements.

Wow, Andy must be feeling desperate as he must have thought JG was going to buy the entire production run...

Now, if Andy had made them all with their shirts off, toiling in the sun then we'd have had a very different response from JG. :p

I don't think that's necessarily true Terry. He takes into account what people say here but he believes that people on this Forum don't represent his universe of collectors, with which I agree. For example, I've asked Shannon why in her newsletter she recapitulates the dispatches since they're published here and her response is that she has a lot of customers who haven't heard of the Forum or who don't read it. Andy doesn't believe that he can let the decisions he takes be ruled what people here say.

The Treefrog Forum provides a cross-section of the market and I believe that manufacturers should take more note of comments here rather than continually making what they like personally. One of the first lessons I learned in marketing was to satisfy customer wants not mine.

I like them, right ebough, there is not as much, but it's nice to have a quiet month, don't you think?:)

I want to agree with Brad (jazzeum) and do believe that out of the relatively few actively posting members compared to the total membership number on this forum, there are several who really do believe that they can influence manufacturer's decisions. I would say that it is fine to suggest things and if they come out then be happy and enjoy them. If they don't come go on for something else.
What astonishes me quite often is the "demanding" tone that sometimes comes up. The number of collectors here is nothing but a very very small fraction of the collecting world out there and for that we should just appreciate when any manufacturer feels comfortable to chat with us once in a while.

I just look at it this way....if John is ever happy what is the point in K&C making toy soldiers anymore?? Stay ticked off John.....I like collecting too much for you to all of a sudden be happy with what is produced....even if its what you asked for! The day John says "Good job Andy!" is the day I bet Andy folds his tents and goes home......why would you continue on once JG is happy!?!?

I'd like to see the 3rd Romanian Mountain Brigade....not the 5th or 6th! The Group also had a communications platoon, a pioneer platoon, an AA gun platoon (4x20 mm), an AT gun company (6x47 mm Schneider) and a 75 mm mountain howitzer battalion. For transportation the Group had 60 donkeys, 60 sleds and 6 trucks. The donkeys should have historical accurate packs and markings accurate for donkeys of this time period and the scale better be right on please....I get mad when the donkey scale is off! Since they were in the mountains there are no need for any shirtless figures....CIAO!:D:cool::p;)

This is one of the best posts ever. Hands down.

Konrad, what a great post.

Hi guys,
A couple of points :
Regarding the Italians my Despatches said
"This new series echoes K&C’s “BERLIN’38” and begins with a modest release of eight figures and a fighting vehicle.

For too long toy soldier and military miniature makers have neglected Germany’s Axis Ally. Well, not now. Although this first release is mostly parade, the inclusion of a small armoured assault gun points out that K&C will not confine our Italian forces to solely a “parade” role in any collection".

Echoes of how the WWI series started I think. Andy mentioned he likes to tell the "story". So logical start at the beginning as they march off to war. Be patient Italian/AK fans.

In relation to the Pzr III Andy did mention Tank crew during his recent visit. It was part of the conversation about trying to keep prices down. He mentioned Tanks with 4 or 5 crew are expensive so we would see more tanks appearing with less crew.

Regards
Brett

I appreciate having less figures with vehicles to keep the cost down. However, I seem to notice less stowage items on the Pakwagen and the new Panzer III, which enhances the overall look of the vehicles. I hope we don't lose these extras.

brett,

thanks for the info.

whilst i do understand, and certainly appreciate, any manufacturer keeping prices low, i do hope in the future, they will at least release add-on crew sets separately.

this will certainly assist some collectors who -

1. wants more crew with their vehicles

2. wants variation in their crew (from standard display set),

3. or those who wants to have a diorama having more than 1 similar vehicle, for eg. 2 Panzer III (without closing 1 one of the Panzer III's commander's hatch)

just a thought.

Hi John, When I first saw the new Italian soldiers and vehicle my first thought was that I was happy for you! :) But now I'm confused . Sure they are not exactly as you would have produced them perhaps, but the point to me is, they have been produced, and are quite nice, which is relative and irrelevant I suppose, but to categorically shoot down each one of the soldiers for what they are not just seems odd, in so many words. We all are allowed our opinions, thankfully, but did you not see anything you liked? In my mind, you should be happy that anything is produced along these lines. Believe me, if Andy produced some ancient Greeks, I would be excited no matter what they were, even if they did not look as if they had just walked right out of Plato's world of ideal forms. Bottom line: without a note positivity, you are simply discouraging future embellishments on the line. I hope someday you get what you want.

that'll be the day John.

Six pages of responses all because John was not happy.

He certainly has an effect on people, I'll give him that.

And his response to all of this should be another award winner...........
