Do You Choose Sides ? (2 Viewers)

Guys,

We've had these kinds of discussions before and they've only produced ill feelings so I'd like you to voluntarily move off this line of discussion or I'll have to start pulling posts.

Sorry Brad, I was unaware of any ill feeling being present, and believed we were having an interesting and lively debate.

Harry,

At the present time it seems to be ok but I have seen similar type threads degenerate so I would like to avoid this from happening.

Its is OK - lets educate our English friends ;)

We are only having fun - calm down.

Actually, Harry - you will be surprized to know that we do teach English History in our High Schools across America. Most of our classes are built around World Civ. Classes. English history is important for our students to learn - because your little island has done so much.

An overview of the Monarchs and their regins are given and some Schools even go further than that. Our history really starts with first fighting England and then saving her twice in both World Wars :D

We really dont need to go into detail all the supplies and help that we gave you so you could win the Battle of Britian and then followed all up with more Troops than your Country put against the Nazi's......Lets just say in your line of logic that England cetainly could not have won alone against the Nazi's.

That victory came with the good ole USA :)

Are we having fun yet - Harry??

Although camo as a joke i think Rons post is designed to insult us Brits:DFirstly i don't think you supplied the Pilots that won the Battle of Britain, secondly i think i'm right in saying more British and commonwealth troops landed on D-Day than American. We have to be patient with Ron chaps,he thinks WW2 started the day after Pearl Harbour!:D

Course we're having fun Ron. :) Your posts are enlightening me no end. Most edifying
While I openly admit to being surprised at your revelation that history outside of the states is taught in your schools, I have to sadly inform you that the guys I've met, who presumably were so educated, must have slept throughout their classes. Most of them seem to react as if they're amazed that there's a big wide world out there, just across the county line.
Incidentally, I wasn't aware that 50 out of date destroyers took to the skies in 1940 to shoot down messerschmitts, dorniers and heinkels in their droves. :D:D
Much as I hate to give any credit to the Stalinist regiem, my line of logic tells me that the combined forces of all the western allies would never have defeated the Nazis without the Red Army, 1942 to 1945.

Naw Rob.
For the average American, WW2 began the day SPR was released. And wasn't "Pearl Harbour" a dreadful movie anyway.

Course you won't mention the Tank Commander who was in the "Patton" movie. You presumably believe the actor actually was that Great Tank Commander.....:D:D:D

As Brad mentioned we have been down this road many times before, but this time the chair is against the wall and Ron, the packet is in the post :)

LOL :p

Jeff

You are right ! The syrup has begun to pour and I am ashamed that Tom has missed the train. The French Flag and Horn flies with Fedex tonight :D

Oh and Harry - youre wrong...;)

Ron-- to the woodshed you go!
Even I get irritated when I see the "We saved the world...twice" posts you put up occasionally to get a rise out of our non-American members--and I'm an American! Don't give everyone the idea that we Americans are that clueless about world history.
The rest of the world wasn't exactly sitting around eating bon-bons waiting for us to show up and do the work...but they did probably wonder what took us so long to get there.

Dear Ron,
I have no intention of getting into a slanging match on this forum with you or anyone else, especially over some trivial need to have the last word in a post that was hijacked to spout your own agenda. However, if you insist in your desire to carry on our discussion in private, please feel free to drop me a PM and I'll send you my personal email address.
Please also be aware that I am no shrinking violet and have been known to reduce grown men to tears of rage and frustration.:):)

Harry,

If you want my opinion, it's not worth it. It's the kind of things that won't change minds. I'd drop it, but that's just me.
