Eagle Design 1/30 Panzer II (1 Viewer)

Thanks for the info Tom. I wonder if Eagle Designs made the Minichamps armor? The 1/35 Tigers on Ebay by them look equivalent. I look forward to their next product; supposedly a Panzer III. I will be happy if their products match the Thomas Gunn armor quality; which they are said to have made.

No worries Kat and I'm not sure about the wheels but the tracks appear to be metal. I'll check it again more thoroughly when I get home and let you know.

We stopped using them because their quality was inconsistent (this is putting it mildly and as polite as I can bearing in mind children access this forum!) Some products they made for us simply fell apart after a while, even though they were just sat in the box on our warehouse shelves. These are the same factory that tried to steal FL's figure designs by cloning 2 different figures together, you can draw your own conclusions as to their ethics.
No we would not ever use them again and I doubt they have many reputable manufacturers putting business through them right now. When we approached them they promised us First Legion quality but could never deliver anywhere near that. A lot of factories will tell you this but not many can actually deliver on this promise.
The entire time we used them (over 2 years) we tried to drill in quality over quantity but the owner always failed to appreciate this.
They were a complete waste of our time and I wish we had never used them is probably the best summary I can give, just in case you were in any doubt.
For those of you who do buy from them good luck is all I can say!

Thank you very much for the heads up. quality and consistancy are very important in the manufacture of any product. Products falling apart in the box would indicate a poor quality bonding agent or adhesive. Possibly contaminated surfaces interfering with bonding. Not good!

Thanks for the info, as you can see from my post I have purchased the Panzer 2 from them and it is quite good quality wise but time will tell if it falls apart down the track with the glue issue. In any event, I doubt I will purchase from them as I don't like unethical behaviour from manufacturers.

Sorry I was not making myself clear, the metal parts simply fell apart! I dread to think where they sourced the metal from, hopefully none of it was used in the manufacture of 1 to 1 scale aeroplanes or cars, it really was the cheapest of cheap.

The same seller is again offering the same figure that copied bits from FL.

If you take a look at the close up photos you will see that apart from the illegal copying of FL designs, the actual quality of the castings is so poor I don't think anyone would be pleased with the purchase. Caveat Emptor !

Which I take to mean a much more serious issue than say two links in a track coming away from each other, but more that the castings of the links themselves were falling apart !?
Steve

The tracks are probably ZAMAC a Zinc, Copper alloy, that if not pure can imbrittle and corrode resulting in breakage. The Condition was called Zinc Pest by the Germans in early Diecast toys.

Steve it was an artillery piece so no metal tracks, the whole thing disintegrated in the box over a short time, bits just broke away in half or fell off with no reason to explain.

Did you not have problems with the German flak and cyclist as well?

Yes, hope that no Aeroplanes, Cars or the Hickley Point Nuclear Power station will have any of this Fake metal !

The Comet airframe failed because of metal fatigue. Cracks developed because of flexing produced by repeated pressurizations of the cabin causing it to expand and contract. The square window corners acted as stress risers that initiated the cracks. All design flaws that were fixed in later Jetliners like the Boeing 707. Modern Jetliners are inspected regularly for cracks using ultrasound.

Yes, initially the Brits didn't have a clue what caused the loses, I recall seeing a documentary where they used a huge water filled tank to test metal fatigue theories.
