ED Winter Stug with FL Winter Tank Riders (2 Viewers)

Do any of the hatches open on the ED model? For the price it's gonna be tough to beat that one.

Joe

Joe, the commander hatches on the ED Stug Models do indeed open and close.....Also I will add that for me these ED Stugs are only fair right out of the box...... but they can be turned into some excellent models with re-paints and decals....I have invested only 5 hrs of my time for each ED Stug to improve them and get them up to par.....Overall I would say that the ED Stugs are the best bang for the buck if you are willing to work with them a bit....IMHO of course :salute::

Thank you for the info Frank!
I really like how you reworked your models.
I'll let you know what I decide.

best,
Joe

JJD and TG Panzers are 1/30 scale. ED Panzers are 1/29 scale and a good compromise to work with both 60 and 65 mm figures IMO.

So ED STUG is 1/29 so go OK K&C ?

Wayne Gotta pick your K/C figures very selectively.....Many K/C figures are 1:28th and some even appear a bit larger to me.....K/C Commander figures (half body) work fairly well with ED Tanks to my eye.... IMO not so much K/C Tank Riders which appear too large to me......Your best bet would seem to be War Park figures with ED Tanks......FL Figures to my eye seem to work OK on the ED Stug III's and the ED Panzer III's but NOT on ED Tigers where they look too small......Again I think that the 1st set of War Park figures seem to be the best with ED Tanks.....Hope this helps....Best Frank

Wayne This is a grey ED Tiger Tank with a K/C Commander Figure.....I think a perfect match.

.....K/C Commmander figure works perfect IMO........K/C Tank Riders are too large and FL Tank riders are somewhat small....I personally have noticed that if many FL tank riders are placed on the ED Tiger it's more visually acceptable but FAR FROM PERFECT......K/C Tank Riders are just too large...but....To each there own.:salute::

.....Another comparative view....FL and K/C....(If K/C figures were just a bit smaller i would be buying more)

The ED Winter Tiger and War Park Figures.....Best Match IMHO :salute::

....FL figures look better on the ED Panzer III and on the ED Winter Stug III then they do on the ED Tiger Tank where they look a bit smallish

Thanks Frank I don't have any WP yet but the shot with winter Tiger looks brilliant thank you mate for the pics but like you I'm a huge STUG fan envious of yours.

I think that you will like War Park Figures...Very Good quality at a fair price :salute::

WB Fallschirmjager would work well too. Kronprinze figures are also a possibility with ED Panzers. The K&C Panzer Kommander figures are very good with Figarti Panzers as they are about 60mm.

I don't know if my model is the exception but the hatches on my winter ED Stug do not open and close.

Can you place it side by side with the FL Stug to show size compatibiliy of both products...and....In your opinion do they work fairly well together....Also.In terms of size does it work well with the ED models or is there too much of a size discrepency....Thank You Frank

I'll let you be the judge of scale. What works for me may not work for you so here they are side by side and some figure comparisons.

It's likely just a fit/quality control issue. That's the price for the Eagle models being so cheap. Quality control and fit are not as good as on the more expensive brands.

One of my Eagle Stugs the hatches open perfectly through the full range of motion. The other one the hatches only open about halfway and then completely stops (if I tried to force it all the way open the hinge would rip off the model).

Like I said it's what you gamble with for the cheap price. Sometimes you get a perfect model, sometimes you get a model with a fit issue, a small piece or two broken off, or a slightly crooked track.

Joe Thanks for all the photos it really helps......I just purchased the FL Stugs so I'll hold off on the Jenkins Stug III for a while....Thank You Again for the comparison photos.

Joe It's likely due to a little XS paint in the hinge.....I noticed this after I re-painted some models....a VERY small bit of acetone on a tooth pick may loosen it up......Work it very gradually....... Hopefully it should free up

My top two hatches open on the ED stug, However I have had fit issues as well.
There is a reason it cost what it cost. Still good value for the money IMO.
