Its been a bit like mohammad and the mountain. we have a Kiwi marked spit and, a US version and, were missing a english version. so, with no disrespect to our commonwealth buddies for me, it needed rectified.

I was fortunate to get a really cheap spitfire from a mate who moved abroad and, was not wanting to keep his collection. Here are some pics of the remarked Spitfire. ''Nulla Rosa sine spina'' (No rose without a thorn). 616 squadron recieved its spits in sept/oct 1939 and flew from RAF Doncaster. They then moved to RAF Leconfield and, were very active in the skies over France their first operational sorties were supporting the BEF getting back to blighty. They remained at station in the early stages of the BOB and, when fighting intensified moved to RAF Kenley on 18/19th August 1940.

Finally, a brit spit very nationalistic I know but, no apologies it had to be done

Great work Mitch . Not very impressed with the kc Spitfire to be honest and very odd there not been a British version yet

Excellent repaint Mitch. I wonder what Spit we may get next, D Day or Desert perhaps?

Rob

Nice job Mitch. Well now that we have a Brit Spit, it's time for an Aussie version - a Clive (Killer) Caldwell version would be ideal ^&cool

Do a Spitfire for Aussie ace Paul Brennan (10 Kills over Malta) - Old Boy of a school I'm associated with. I can get the College to buy it for me!

Thanks for the comments

CFM.. Nor have I spifire is the iconic aircraft since man took to the skies. Just being a proud englishman with a close connection to the BOB I wanted to see a brit version.

Rob...

Would think the next spit must be a d-day marked version it would fit with the Tiffie!!

Oz..

An aussie version would be fitting and Clive Caldwell was a brave man with a interesting end to his career for sure!!!

Jack...

Another superb pilot with a great record. I would certainly happily do a version for you

Mitch, I'm sure he would have been a good boy if they called him 'Cream Puff' Caldwell rather than 'Killer' Caldwell, society is to blame ^&grin

Oz, good idea for a Aussie Spit , I was wondering about what Keith 'Nugget' Miller flew during the war? a Spit? a Mozzie? I remember his famous quote about pressure during a test match against the old enemy. ''Pressure, I'll tell you what pressure is, a Messerschmitt up your arse , not playing cricket."
Wayne.

He was in Mozzies, but I think you will find his wartime career was much exaggerated - much like his cricket!

[QUOTE=OMitch did you repaint the Spitfire or just change the decals out of interest?

Great looking Spit Mitch. Funny thing, I am just finishing up a 1/32 Revell Spit of "QJS" of pilot Alan Wright (decals for MK Vb Spit from Aero Master) from 92 squadron Biggin Hill 1941, but instead of using all the markings for that plane, decided to depict a MK I BoB Spit which most had a black spinner (instead of gray) and no roundels on the undersurfaces of the wings nor gray band in front of tail. I just liked the look of a MK I better, anyway, here she is with the engine cover off. I had planned on using this in a RAF set up soon. Cheers.
