In March and April of 1945 the American First and Ninth Armies crossed the Rhine and pressed into Germany. The area of the Ruhr was heavily industrialized since the mid 19th century, and was one of the important manufacturing areas for Hitler's war machine. The Allied bombing campaign heavily targeted this area destroying at least 30% of the factories and equipment impacting the delivery of important war materials.
The Ruhr pocket was defended by Field Marshal Model's Army Group B and fierce fighting took place during this final push into Germany by the Western Allies.
Essen was captured on April 14th and for all intents and purposes organized resistance on the Western front collapsed.

G.I.s had to fight through the ruins of industrial areas, with some buildings dating from the late nineteenth century.

Smokestacks were once hailed as the signs of industrial progress, reaching high above the sooty brick factories. Many crumbled to the impact of shelling and heavy bombardment...

The last few images incorporate our standard damaged factory and two new items,#2033 Damaged Smokestack and #2032 Destroyed Factory Section. The GI is a W. Britain figure I sculpted a few years ago.

#2033 Damaged Smokestack as pictured $145.00 ea.

Here is an overhead image of the two new scenic items used together with the W. Britain figure for scale reference. These were designed to use with our Standard Damaged Factory to simulate a devastated industrial area. Additional structures will follow later in the year.

These along with several other new items will be available direct from our website very soon and we are taking pre orders now.

Hope you enjoy,
Ken

A very nicely done new product offerings Ken . . . . . well photographed too . . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Thanks Mike!
We have several new products for Twentieth Century warfare and are in the process of updating our website. Ericka and I are finally working on a couple of new ACW period projects that we hope to unveil in the near future... one of which we discussed some time ago. Rich Walker has kept me very busy as of late sculpting new figures for W. Britain so I am a bit farther behind with new H&A releases than I thought I would be. Look for a fair number of new ACW and AWI figures in the next few catalogs!

Here is a pre view of a few other items we will be offering...
New cobblestone road sections, one undamaged and the other with a shell or bomb crater.

Look for these on our website soon.
All the best,
Ken

Awesome stuff K@E i really like the new cobblestone road and the chimney is awesome might be a order heading your way soon.

Ils sont magnifique! Ken- as I get better at making scenics, the almost unbelievable "guiding star" for me is your work! At some point, when I get around to it, I will get all of your French village scenics (love the factory, just not in any relevant era for me).
-Sandor:salute::

Thanks for your kind comments!

There are two more scenics that are finished except for some very minor details we decided to add last minute. We need to do a small production run of these added details in the next few days to finish them. We hope to have previews of these very soon too, and these items are pretty timeless so they should be useful from the 16th century on up.

Ken

Superb looking products Ken, that cobblestone road will be a definite order when its released.

Rob

That is really great work, Ken :salute::
The damaged wall section and the smoke stack sure are top quality work.
I lived in the "Ruhrgebiet" Ruhr Pocket until I moved to the U.S. in 1995 and I can honestly attest that you got the look of the industrial buildings perfectly correct.
Excellent {bravo}}

It hardly feels like Spring for this weary Volksgrenadier as he pauses to gaze in the direction of the endless rumble of American artillery. The Rhine has been crossed and the war in the West will end in a matter of days. The promise of a 'Thousand Year Reich' is not a dream, but a nightmare...

The death toll will continue to the bitter end defending the Fatherland. Volksturm and police are thrown into the front line with Wehrmacht and SS troops in a hopeless battle...

K&C figures featured with H&A #2014 Cobblestone road with shell crater, #2032 Destroyed factory section and #2033 Damaged smokestack...All scenics now available at Hudson & Allen.
