I would like that too, but I wouldn't fancy them against Germany or Italy ( even after Italy's defeat against Holland, a team that looked nice but were helped by an offside first goal, things like these are just the luck of the game, that does play its part ).

Finally finished the second half of Spain Russia. A very impressive showing. Great ball movement. Cesc might have been slightly offsides on the last goal but no matter. Great beginning. Let's hope they can keep it going.
 
Well Spain looked really good i thought,they may finally live up to expectations and deliver the goods.I also think Holland and perhaps Italy(if they get their act together)could get to the later stages.Will also be interesting to see how other nations like Russia and Greece get on.

Yo Trooper, hope you haven't laid any money out on them, they wont win it they are a disaster in defence, a team with good strikers would have destroyed them with the chances the Chec's had.

Sport ( and History for that matter ) are full of would haves... They count for nothing. I didn't see the game, only heard that Portugal had a rough first half and then came out on top in the second half and heard Peter Cech ( tremendous goal keeper ) saying that we deserved to win. On the day anything can happen, you can not say a team's defense is a disaster just because of a hard game with a tough team. Now I won't say we are going to win it, I believe we are underdogs against the likes of Germany or Italy, but the team, with a 5-1 goal difference and 1st place in the group already assured, seems to be gathering momentum. And when they score goals as they are doing at the moment, it does look right regardless of defense. One game at a time and we'll see what comes along...

Holland are looking extremely sharp at the moment: 3 nil against Italy, 4-1 against France, great playing, that's what I'd call Cup winning style! The second round is a different thing, though, it's what Portugal's coach Scolari calls «mata,mata» ( «kill,kill» ), no round robin anymore, play and win or lose and you're out, even if on penalty shootouts:eek:, anything can happen on the day.
 
I just watched a replay of the France game. They looked like crap. Very disappointing, especially when they gave up the third goal. The team is old.
