European butcher bird!!!! (1 Viewer)

Just received my FW190 yesterday but unfortunately I have to send it back for replacement due to numerous paint chips on one of the wheels, and also the wheel rods. The plane itself is beautiful. My dealer told me that they've had quite a few issues with this plane as almost half of them got send back for replacement. It looks like this due to poor quality control at manufacturer.

On the plus side they told me the CS 88mm gun will be shipped out next monday {sm3}.

When I recieved my FW190 the wheel was laying in bottom of the box too. Dealer said they had alot of this problem. Had problems with first FW190 also.TG needs to inspect stock before shipping to dealers....Ron

Ive got mine coming from TF so im hoping all is ok,never had a prob before so not to worried.................{sm2}

never had or heard of any issues to date so, this is the first. hope its sorted for the few who have issues

My desert 190 came with one wheel detached. However, at the bottom of the box was the piece which was intended to hold the wheel on the landing gear. It was a simple thing to place the wheel back on the landing gear, and carefully glue the piece back in place (so the wheel could still turn).

To me it was a great plane at a great price, so I didn't mind a little minor repair work, and never mentioned it. The sliding canopy was also a little loose (which I did mention) but that was not a deal breaker either. It would seem the wheels get broken when they hit the bottom of the styrofoam packing during transit. A cheap and easy fix might be putting a little extra soft foam under the belly of the plane, to keep the wheels from reaching the bottom of the packing when the box is bounced in transit.

That solution would work. It is basically the same way the Armour aircraft were packaged. All those come with extended landing gear. Those were packaged with wings and fuselage supported and landing gear off the floor, so to speak. I had over 3 dozen Armour aircraft and never received a single one with damage of any sort. -- Al

My issue is is paint chips on wheel and wheel rods/posts.

I was lucky, I had no paint chips. I would imagine yours just got knocked about a bit more in transit, and the loose wheel chipped up the paint.:redface2:

If an item arrives a little dinged and can be easily repaired i will do it to save the hassle of returning the item back to the sender. I have had several broken bayonnets on figures show up in the past. Crazy glue works well on polystone and pewter repairs.Other times you just have to return it as it is too far gone ! {eek3}

I hated to send it back too and asked the dealer if they could just send me the replacement wheels but they said the whole thing will have to be sent back as TM doesn't make spare parts; And I'm not good in doing retouching work.
