X-Force showed that they were working on some US and German WW2 items "for late 2014". Has anyone heard/read any more about this project? Any news at all?

I had heard that too and that they were slated to be released after the medieval range seeing as that range only came out recently after a short delay I would expect them in the next month or so.

Info from 12.31.14

"WW2 (Normandy) are also close to toolings and should be available in April or so. There will be Germans and Americans for a start covering Rifles-Assault, Rifles-Defend, Machine Gun Teams, Mortar Teams and Infantry HQ with Anti-Tank Weapons."

I know the last batch of Expeditionary were larger than those first Civil war figures. Sure hope these WW2 are on the big size.

The only preview on their website
is the one row of germans.

I remember seeing some preview shots of a couple GIs also. The initial report (don't know about how accurate) was that they would be sized to Conte/TSSD. I'm rather hopeful, not only more figures but more new parts into the conversion gristmill. I'm hopeful!

The initial report mentions support weapons - that would be nice if they are done well. Some of my personal favorite plastic figures are the Conte machine gunner and loader with a decent looking M1919A4 light machine gun. Of all the GI machine gunners in 1/32/54mm these ar the first ones to get the position of the crew right. Airfix did give us a guy who is presumably firing an M1919A6, which entered combat in 1944, and Marx did the famous guy running with the machine gun on his shoulder.Since this was the standard company level machine gun for the US Army and US Marines in WW2 I hope we get another nice version of this gun from X-Force.

Somewhere in the last few months there were more pictures, but I can't recall where.

Looking forward to these guys. Hope there are a good number of extra pairs of arms with different weapons, ect. If I remember right, it was mentioned that later they were going to do some late war G.I.'s and Germans. Those are really what I look forward to.

Scott, X-Force's boss:
"The next range to be release is 60mm WW2 German, American and Free French (American-supplied battalions but with Kepi or Adrienne helmets)."

Yeeeeesssss!!!!! ;)

Wow, that German mortar team is just exquisite. The G.I. advancing with the Garand is also stellar.{sm3}

Go to their website they have more pictures of their future releases. They look great. Now I hope they keep their word in regards to the size.

Nice animated poses! If these are even close to the "right" size they will be a lot of fun to convert and have fun with. I kind of like the idea of the Free French troops, one of the unsung armies in the ETO. Generally, they wore US uniforms and usually carried US weapons, so it wouldn't be hard to convert them to GI's or convert more GIs to Free French. One piece of trivia, most French units were provided with bolt-action Springfield or M1917 "Enfield" rifles because the supply of M1s was reserved for US troops. The Free French 2eme DB (2nd Armored Division) had at least some Garands for their infantry along with carbines and Tommy guns.

One deep dispointment was the US air-cooled .30 caliber on a high tripod with a squatting creman. WRONG! The .30 cal M1919A4 was the standard platoon and company level machinegun for the Army and the Marines and it was fired from an M2 tripod which was built for prone use. Into 1944 there came limited numbers of M1919A6 which had a shoulder stock and bipod (which is what the Airfix prone machine gunner seems to have). The M1919A4 could be fired from the tall tripod but its use that way would be quite unusual. Such nice figures and then a screw up like that - most unfortunate. So far Conte is the only figure maker to have gotten it right in 54mm plastics.

Set him behind a sandbagged defense bunker.

The gun is easier to traverse when sitting.

Wow. Very nice indeed. They have a nice Airfix look to them. Not overly done but nice poses. Hope they'll have them by Sept. for OTSN. I imagine they won't be cheap, however.
