Expeditionary Force WW2 sets??? (3 Viewers)

Do any of you more informed members have
news about their WW2 figure Sets ?

TSSD has pictures of the 3 upcoming sets. I will buy one set of each as long as they fit size wise with TSSD & Conte but am I disappointed. If you go thru the expense of producing new plastic show some ingenuity. These generic poses remind me of figures you would get 50 in a bag for .99 cents.
Juist my opinion.

Standing firing, advancing, standing firing, advancing, standing firing, advancing, standing firing, advancing, then throw in an officer and a grenade thrower by 2..............then kneeling firing, at the ready, kneeling firing, at the ready, kneeling firing, at the ready, kneeling firing, at the ready then throw in a grenade thrower and the Airfix German Officer firing pistol.

Yep, not much ingenuity there.

While normally, I would be excited to have new WW2 G.I.'s and Germans, I find it hard to be very excited about these. The poses look too stiff and not very action packed with little variety. Also the figures look too clean. They don't look like the guys you see in pictures or films from WW2 or the way the G.I.'s looked in T.V.'s "COMBAT!" series, gritty, dirty, being in battle for several weeks without a break. Their faces don't show much emotion, anger, stress, determination, ect.
Not sure if I will get them. For what they will cost, I might rather put my money into CTS Korean War stuff.
Dont mean to be negative about a Toy Soldier Company, and hope that their future WW2 figures will look better.

I'm looking forward to these! Being into conversions I am looking at them as another nice assortment of arms/legs/heads/etc. to be cut up and rearranged. I'll make some new poses and have some fun doing it. I already have a couple ideas in mind for my US troops and for my USMC unit.

They are beautifully sculpted (as is typical with X-Force) but I agree with you all on the poses; they are also a bit too parade ground clean for my preferences as well. However, they would make great larger scale wargaming pieces. I still wouldn't mind getting some - if the prices aren't prohibitive.

You might be right, if priced right, they may be worth getting for the coversion value. I guess I will wait and see what the finished products look like. Maybe I will be suprised, or at the very least, be able to work on them and get them to look like guys who have been fighting a hard battle.

Maybe I missed it on my origional post but TSSD has 4 more sets pictures and these don't look to bad.
German HQ set
Gewrman machine gun set
German mortor set
Optional heads.
Some of the figures in these sets are duplicates from the first 2 sets pictured but others look to be new poses. Things are looking up.

Hobby Bunker is reporting they should have the WW2 sets shortly. It looks like you must order what head gear style you want. I was hopeing extra headgear so you could exchange amongst the various figures. Maybe I'm reading this wrong?

No, you're reading it correct; each set has the same poses, just different head variants..............

So the sets are from what i read $32 a piece for nine figures with no interchangable headgear (except if you buy each set with different headgear or multiples) and no interchangeable/spare arms as far as i know....these are looking more and more like a pass for me. I might buy the weapons sections still but price tag still has me on the fence if $32 is correct.

I'm afraid those days of buying a bag of 50 soldiers for .99 cents have passed. These things are not cheap to produce and you must sell a ton of them just to break even.
Just be happy someone is still making plastic.

Very true but companies like TSSD, Austin miniatures, CTS etc. are still able to produce sets with an average of 16 figures in 8 poses for the final cost to us being 20-26 dollars. Again just my two cents.

I am just now getting into conversions but even if I do get deep into it, the thought of carving up these guys at $3.55 apiece gives me pause. IF I buy these guys - and for me that's a mighty big "if" - I know the days of .99 bags of plastic guys are over but one has to draw the line at price and for each of us that line is different. I pity the makers who have to invest trying to figure out where that line is for enough of us to make a profit.

I'll be doing good if I manage one of each set. I'm still trying to play catch up with some of their previous output. Years ago, I had to scale back on my 1/72 scale collecting, limiting it to specific eras because there was just so much GOOD product out there and I couldn't buy everything being put out AND keep up with 1/32 scale figure output. I am debating leaving 1/72 for a combination of reasons (eyesight being one of them) and with the enormous increase in prices here lately may be limiting my collecting in 1/32 to specific eras as well.

The Plastic General is IN 1000%.
Big deal, its only $150 for everything! What would you rather be doing with that money?

Maybe my math skills have deteriorated but ten sets (5 German and 5 American assuming you only buy one of each and mix and match head gear between sets) at $32 is should be $320. Tssd has them listed for $29 so feel free to correct me if my math skills are off again but $29 x 10 =$290 :salute:: If you wouldn't mind divulging where your getting all 10 sets from $150 I think all of us would order our sets from there.{sm4}

I have pre ordered 10 sets with a stipulation. These sets must be compatable with Conte & TSSD figures. I thought I read somewhere that they were but has anyone actually seen a photo comparison? My concern is the very first Expeditionary figures were Civil War and they were so small they almost needed to stand alone, that they would go with no other companies. 10 sets come to over $300 so when talking that amount for plastic I need to be sure.
One other question. I know that you must order each bag with a particular headgear. I,ve mixed my order up. But once they arrive can you then switch heads?
Even tho as previously discussed that these are not the most innovative poses it's been a long time since this many new figures have come out at one time.
Even tho Plastic General got his math messed up, I really don't think complaining about a few dollars and I mean a few is warranted. If a TSSD bag sells for $26 and these go for $32 a difference of $6. If that causes financial hardship maybe another hobby should be look at.
