Farewell Crimean range (1 Viewer)

Lol...:D

I must admit to being more than a tad disappointed when I first heard that this Decembers releases were going to be the last. But after a bit of strategic planning I have rearranged my two displays and have added figures to both sides and as Tony has said I have the entire collection plus multiples of some of the more standard poses. I can’t wait for the excellent new releases coming at the end of the year.

I have already decided to collect the new K&C UK Excusive range as I find a release of 6/7 figures every six months and limited to around 40ish for the range is an affordable way to collect an entire range. As to what it will be? The Marlburian Wars would go down nicely. ;)

Jeff

I heard it was the Green Howards.......which would tie in nicely with the Crimean series :p

Rob...

Nice to know. A useless bit of trivia, your body can survive on a mars bar and a pint of guiness a day.

Said it was useless but, always interesting should you find yourself in a position where this is all you can have
Mitch
I have been in that position and can confirm it works just fine.;):D

I wonder if Bill is harkening back to his law school days :)

Must admit I was a bit disappointed with this news.

I need to now start buying a few mote TRL figures to increase my line.

To be honest I hope the new line is something I won't want. In other words not British Colonial as it seems like every other company is now making new lines from this period of our history.

Andy, I hear your pain!!:D............But wouldn't it be something though!

Spitfrnd...

Learned that from my uncle who was a royal marine, 42 commando and they did that sort of stuff all the time.

Brad,

This range has gone from strength to strength but all good things come to an end. With this in mind we we are having one final last 'hoozar' on this range December 2010.

17th Lancer on collapsing Horse
Russian Inf officer shouting- for Charge or Alma
" " Bugler/drummer- " "
" " standing firing " "
" " standing loading " "

Then our Piece de resistance :

Florence Nightingale seeing to a wounded Coldstream guard.

So a good 7 part end to this range allowing us to concentrate on a new collection exclusive to us which will be out in December 2011,please note CRW01-CRW04 and CRW14,16 and 24SL AND 25 are low stock in numbers and soon to be discontinued.

Rob

Rob,

At the London Show last month Tony was kind enough to give em a sneak preview of the drawings that Andy has done of these last figures..... and I was most impressed with the poses he's doing.... but wasn't supposed to tell anyone about them ......thanks for that Tony :)

Now the news is out, I can say that I'm really looking forward to seeing the painted figures, epecially Florence & wounded, beacuse after seeing the latest releases there on display, I think they are amongst the best so far...Well Done!!

I'm not a Crimean War collector as this range didn't speak to my interests however it did make me ponder ranges that end or even manufacturers that go out of business! How disappointing that must be for collectors of that manufacturers product line. I can only imagine how upset I'd be if some of my favourite ranges ended or I couldn't pick up pieces from a favourite manufacturer. :( I know other ranges and companies get created but that's a scary thought. I haven't had this experience recently but I'm sure its unavoidable. I'll bet there have been a lot of other collectors on this forum who have dealt with this issue.
My only personal experience with this was way back in the 80's when Airfix stopped making product, I was so disappointed as there was nothing to fill their void. In fact that was also about the time I left the hobby not to return for about 20 years! I stumbled across K&C online one day about 5 years ago and the rest as they say is history.

I agree it's probably unrealistic but it is a concern is it not? However, I'm sure that no rationing will take place and you'll see these show up on ebay with generous markups. Someone needs to speak up for the collector who maybe put off some purchases or can only afford so much at any time. I don't pretend to be that person but hoarding may be a problem.

Although not a retired item, when the V1 from Figarti came out, people swooped in and bought them, depriving others of the ability to purchase them. This wasn't an idle concern and Rick was concerned about it.

Brad, Almost Impossible to prevent the hording especially if the dealers don't care about this....But if buyers are "smart" they will refuse to pay above retail on the secondary markets ......Let the speculators sit on their multiples....Refuse to purchase at inflated prices.....This is the best way to fight back....BOYCOTT THEM

It's scandalous , this series ceases as follows: it will remain not only incomplete, but in addition very unbalanced as for the involved forces .

The abundant Scottish infantry of the series " Thin Red Line" will only have for enemies two Russian hussards , therefore? No cossacks ?

The Alma battle also had there French, Piedmontese, Turks ... never will come?

It's a shame I agree, but there will be some Russian Infantry in December.

It's a shame that this range is ending.... it seems it never really got off the ground.....or is that just my impression?

Vezzolf...

From what I heard it sold well for K&C UK but, every line has to be discontinued eventually and, we do not know where they are going and, its not as if its vanished off the shelves still time for collectors to get the sets they want

It is a big shame. It's my favourite K&C range and using the figures available so far some decent displays can be made. I'm looking forward to the December releases, should beef out the Russians a bit.

The problem with the Crimean War is that it is in the shadow of the Napoleonic Wars and imho tends to be under rated by collectors. :(

Guys

As Mitch says this is a very good seller, however if we start branching out with the battles that we have done in th ecampaign to ALL the regiments that WERE there then we start hitting very hard the area of NON COMMERCIAL. The bottom line is they have to sell. What we have made is/has and will sell. i dont want any of my cash tied up with items that wont sell.

Yes some model numbers are low but there is no need for a panic bum fight for models.........YET:D

The way i see it is that
25% of collectors love a range and buy it all
10% Buy it all and want ALL the regiments as a perticular subject matter is THEIR thing.
However 75% of the collectors collect and buy what they like and also are primarily driven by hollywood, TV, the odd book etc. So when it comes to a range it is the familiarty that sells. Say Crimean War and 90+% of people yell Charge of the light brigade..........the biggest failing of the war however they dont mention the other battles where there were great succes. 100% say Florence Nightingale again one of the best things to come out of the campaign for the modern world (as in nursing standards etc).

Did it get off the ground? yes very much so. But whilst we are on a high with it and have capitol to infest we have decided to move on.

Custer thats a lot more things in the world that are SCANDALOUS......a shame yes maybe but definatly not scandalous. :)
