February Dispatches (1 Viewer)

OK, boys...

Time for a deep breath and time to reflect at bit. We're getting testy!

You can disagree without thinking the other person is an idiot...

We've been down this road before...let's not end up attacking each other...

Pete would you tell my wife that!;):D

Dear Vanessa -

You can disagree with Rob without thinking that Rob is an idiot. Really. Please be kind to him and humor him in his addiction to toy soldiers.

Sincerely,

Dear Peter,

Thanks for the advice, but Rob really is an idiot and I humour him far too much already!;)
Best wishes,
Vanessa

Oh no! she's signed in on her own,Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!:D

If you're no happy with K&C then don't buy what they have on the market and give the rest of us some peace..!!

Ha ha! I really don't see the reason why one had to be so defensive about K&C products. Only constructive critism will push the company up for improvement. I think most people think K&C is still the leader in the industry... but they still 've room for improvement.

I've personally struggled not to collect toy soldiers because it seems to tie with immaturity and money squandering... reading more of these posts make me think more so.

Some of us are "kidults," having the knowledge (and earnings) of an adult but psychologically still immature.

and your qualifications for such insightful and mature postings are...............

Harry, My post was in regard to someone knocking down a fledgling company at every turn no matter what was posted, a bit different than the endless King & Country debates.
On posts in general the "constructive" part of the criticism seems to be missing lately. With King & Country being closed for Chinese New Year and not being present to respond to all the questions about the WWI car, Napoleonic plumes etc. the debates are going nowhere and people are just getting cranky with each other. A sensible option would be to table these discussions until we have heard from King & Country instead of going round and round on the same issues and then throwing in more to add more fuel to the "discussions".
The pose debate goes round and round endlessly--are the poses all the same? Would the soldiers have been in random poses? Does it keep costs down to modify a sculpt? Again, it would be more to the point to wait for King & Country to read and respond to these questions. Are certain poses boring and uninspiring? Well there's an opinion question if I ever heard one. I for one can tell you the new Market Garden has sold quite well and has been well received, especially for fans of "A Bridge Too Far" since many of the poses are taken directly from scenes in the movie. Obviously some people like the poses and some don't. Opinions.
I think in the case of King & Country the "debate" between the two viewpoints has been going on for so long that it is difficult for rational discussion to take place because people take every other discussion and "spat" into each new topic with them. Reminds me of married couples who don't know how to fight fair and can't argue about a current issue without dragging up every wrong done to them by the other for the past 8 years of marriage which actually has no bearing on the topic at hand.

The two sides forever arguing about King & Country are polarized--we have the "no one can say anything critical about King & Country on this forum" group and the "King & Country is the best line and you shouldn't be so critical" group.
The one side feels so strongly that "nothing negative can be said about King & Country" without the other side throwing a fit that they do their best to continually to push the envelope to ensure a fit is thrown thereby proving their point. The other side, then becomes outraged at how negative and critical the first side is so they do whatever they can to defend and show support for the company. Large fonts and "in your face" slogans and posts ensue, prompting more negativity and criticism from the first side thereby proving the second side's point as well.

It is all very tiresome and predictable.

I maintain that people CAN question King & Country and their products on this forum and if the two sides would just move on and not keep fresh in their memories every negative exchange that's ever been posted in earlier "debates" we could have rational discussions on the issues and maybe learn something and come to some agreements. I also think that would take the "fun" out of it for a lot of people who rather enjoy keeping things stirred up.
I think a lot of the questions that have been brought up about K&C products are interesting and valid and I am looking forward to hearing what K&C has to say. I don't think that it is so much the questions that have been asked that is stirring up controversy, it is how the two sides are handling them while waiting to hear K&C's take on them.

Hi Vanessa -

As you spend more time with him that any of us on the Forum do (at least we HOPE that's the case), I suppose we will have to take your word for it.

You know Rob as only a loving wife can.

Sincerely,

Pete Reuss

The top image is NOT of a Guard regiment. Note that the collars are plain and the shako does not have an eagle plate as seen on the KC figures.

Can Andy's Russians not be used as a line regiment then. If they don't have the plumes.
Just asking
Regards
Damian

Now, that's a great idea Panda. I might have thought of it myself, but I was so busy ranting and raving to Mzz Zhai about miniature figurines that it slipped my mind - while she almost instantly went into comatose mode. I.E. went to bed and left me rambling on to myself....:D:D
Cheers

Dragoon also note that these are grenadiers troopers!!!! Look at the shako and notice the triple grenadier flames!!!! Grenadiers should have a plume on thier shakos, Musketeers/line troopers only have a single flame on their shako plate and cartridge poach. These are grenadiers and they should have plumes also!!!!

Yes, I saw that too. Just didn't feel like bringing it up anymore. I think this horse might be dead.
