I agree Oz completely that we should not have fantasy armoured vehicles that never existed......They should be all based on historical factual armour.....Lack of details and accuracy of K/C's polystone in past releases however left much to be desired in the area of realism......All I am saying is that they have improved their accuracy of many products recently......

That's good, for a while there I thought you'd done a big enough backflip to get in the olympics ;) :D

Moles? Ah, yes, as Irina said they are creatures who dig deep within the fabric of western civilization.

Rob,

No, I meant moles. Now, can you tell me what that is from and who Irina is?

I must confess i can't and i don't Brad.I used this forum for my own tawdry cheap sense of humour and will now away to pull my own head off!

Who is Irina?

I guess you never read Le Carre's Tinker Tailor, a very, very good book and one of my favorites. I recommend it. It's also in DVD, which I probably watch a couple of times a year.

In the book Ricki Tarr, a maverick agent of the Circus (MI5), romances an operative in Lisbon who he calls Irina (see below) who I believe is a cypher clerk for Moscow Centre (the KGB) and in the course of their dalliance she tells him there is a mole in the Circus and asks Ricki if he knows what a mole is and she answers the quote I posted above. Moscow Centre sometimes use "husband and wife" teams so he calls the two he runs into in Lisbon Boris and Irina, after Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I don't want to say more in case you decide to read it.

In answer to 2,3, & 4 above:

2. I'm guessing that the vast majority of the 250,000+ combatants on the field at Waterloo were not all looking at each other facing off that day thinking to themselves: "Ooh look they are all posing like me!! Are they taking the mickey or what!!??"

If you collect Napoleonics like I do, then it is a given IMO that most soldiers were restricted in their movements by their regiments movements and the accepted rules of engagement (walk forward a lot, load, stand ready, aim, fire, re-load, with a bit of stabbing in-between). Large formations did not mean Wellington or Napoleon ordering "everyone just do your own thing and it will be alright on the night - trust me!". It meant loads of men doing exactly the same thing at exactly the same time when ordered. Except Skirmishers and Voltigeurs and marksmen of course who were the bad boys and pretty much did whatever they wanted and p*#sed everyone else off because they never played by the rules. :D

Kiwi

That's a good point, kiwi.

Nonetheless, just compare NA126 with the to-be-released russian officer with flag... They are exactly identical. Isn't it sad to have two flag bearers from opposing forces who tried to imitate each other on the battlefield? This is a set back for K&C to the standard of frontline toy soldiers which have almost all the troops from the napoleonic era but molded the same way!!!

I think it is strange that nobody notices such sloppiness in design of K&C toy soldiers when they cost us so much money!

Well, there's always a choice. If the "sloppiness in design" upsets so much, then either keep the prodigious amount of money in the hip pocket - or spend it on something else.

but then the russian flag is so pretty that it's very very tough to resist... just trying to push the company to produce even better products!;)

I think this is a problem we will see more and more - K&C production is so big now that figure poses are going to start overlapping unless some real imagination is used (like with the new WW1 German Armoured Car:))
I suppose in the old days we were so grateful for a release we could overlook the same poses i.e figures holding maps, binoculars and MG's mounted on sandbags. Now with so much coming out you don't want all your figures doing roughly the same thing. Saying that the new BOB Yanks are really spot on and have persuaded me to start getting this series - IMO this is one of the best Infantry releases to date.
I still reckon Captain Pugwash would be a great hit in a Kriegsmarine unifrom along with the rest of the crew................ but for some reason I can't remember their names tonight!:)

Anybody collect the Imperial China line? It's been quite a while since we've gotten a new set from this line and just wondered what people thought of the upcoming "Making Ready for Battle" set?
Harry?
I like to bring this (and Patriot's Ancient China) line to the Chicago show for something a little different.

To be fair to K&C I doubt very much whether the British Coldstream Ensign would ever be facing the Russian on a battlefield. This type of pose is really about showing the flag and it's painted detail to the best degree.

In the old days King & Country used to copy other manufactures including Airfix. Now they just seem to be copying their own figures, over and over and over and over.......

The word is in from my 2 WWI Armor forums, that I belong to...I posted a photo there of the armor car and asked for opinions...No such car existed...Sorry,Michael:(
