Figarti 88 mm on ebay (1 Viewer)

So at least 2 of the 60 allocated to the US were snapped up by the mercenary scalpers - leaving 58 for legitimate customers. Kind of sad. I could of gotten the 88 at about 5% above retail but passed, so no way I would ever pay twice as much.

I got one so that leaves 57

The one is over $400.00:eek: It is sad. I hope its not anyone on the forum selling these.

Isn't this just silly?, Anyone that wanted one should have acted quickly and

secured one from a dealer. I had ample opportunity to order one if I chose

to. I didn't order any of the new Figarti releases because I mainly collect King

& Country. We all knew these items had a strong chance of selling out. So

someone bought an extra.....is that what inspires such a response? Seems

rather silly to me.

To call someone a "mercenary scalper" and hope they are not on the forum

seems a bit over the top.

Why not wait and see if it turns out to be a dealer.....or a true speculator,

someone with no collection to speak of or connection to any forum or group.

I would hope no one on the forum gets tar and feathered!:p

It's the way of the world. Sounds like the seller was just covering his bases and wound up with two.

I'd better shut up before I get in trouble again :D

I don't understand this statement ? Why is this a bad thing. The average Figarti Collector should realize by now if you don't preorder it when you see you will not get one at suggested retail.

I do have a problem when I see a retailer selling them after they claim that all of thier allotted stock is sold out :)

I can agree with that, especially this quick. Nothing says a dealer can't put

something away for his personal collection and decide to sell it at a future

time, after all many of them are collectors themselves.

It wouldn't seem right if a dealer turned away a customer then listed the item

certainly this quick.

I can understand a Figarti collectors being annoyed if they missed an item

they really wanted, but in collecting you have to be quick! The moment you

hear about a new item you have to decide what you are going to do.

Also some people bought the winter version, and now want the new desert version and need to sell the winter one. I wanted a winter one and looked at every site and did not see a pre order for it. I guess I will paint my Collectors Showcase one.

Sort of describes me, except that I was delaying delivery of the Winter one, so someone got that, and, then, I had to cancel the tropical one, so I made somenone happy there also.

My problem with it, is the perception of the mfg. being a willing accomplice to the speculators..ie: only 100 pieces being made, thus artificially creating the demand....I am a businessman that knows all about costs and profit margins and the Figarti business model has me stumped...100 Winter 88's at $270 retail is equal to $27000 in maximum sales worldwide. Not knowing the cost to dealers and their markup, say Figarti actually gets paid $15000 on the run. After paying the scuptor, painters ,mold making process, production and distribution costs, there is near not enough left to justify any of this stuff being mfg. at all. Take this same argument to the $180 vehicles..$18000 maximum worldwide retail for a run ,$10000 actually paid from dealers, take costs from that..? The dealer investment dollars I offer are a guess. Only they know what they actually pay for this stuff. It seems Figarti is running their business as a charity to us, because they can not be making any real money doing it...thus the 100 piece limit must be a marketing strategy, a loss leader if you like...Michael

It is hard to figure out how they can make money. Maybe they are operating the business as a hobby?

I do not believe so. Many businesses run on credit which is another problem they have with the current economy, perhaps Figarti does not. I always

believed in pay as you go, I do not want banks & creditors making decisions for me. If Figarti is self funded they can do exactly as they please. Rick has

said they have their own factory this helps keep production costs down and perhaps they produce other items which offset their

labor costs. However he does it, you must admit he is producing excellent items, that create a lot of excitement.

I do not believe he interested in speculators in the least. He is simply interested in producing products that interest collectors and keep them discussing his

product line.

If he can produce 100 pieces and make a profit he is satisfied with it would appear that he has an excellent business plan which is well excecuted.:)

As for me.....the market has given me a king sized headache today!

I don't really care if they are on the forum - they're still engaging in scalping behaviour. If I had sold my V2s right after they came out I couldn't lie to myself that I wasn't scalping. You call a spade a spade. Now I'm really not against scalping as much as others (that's the way a market works and those fellows are perfectly within their rights to play this game) but let's not mince words about what is going on here.

Why? Mercenary stock market scalpers got you down? :D

The actual cost of manufacturing is quite low in China, so a run of 100 vehicles or figures can make a profit.

To be honest who cares, all i know is they are making GREAT products at a good price for us,and if you miss out, well thats life if there happy and where happy whats the drama.Let them worry about profit and what ever its there company they wanna make 1 of everything so be it.
