I have a Figarti Long Tom with crew which I purchased approx. 3 years ago....I like the piece very much....However today I noticed what appeared to be a crack on the barrel of the cannon.....closer examination revealed that the paint was flaking off, exposing the metal beneath......I do not "handle" my collections and they are in a moderate "controlled" temperature environment.....I must say I am very dissappointed:mad::mad: with Figarti.....It used to be that we needed to hold our breath when a Figarti product arrived hoping for no breakage....Now I guess poor quality control can rear up even latter on....RIDICULOUS....to have these problems on products that cost upwards of $250 dollars.....What are my options now.........Does Rick stand behind his products??....Any advise .....Thank you....Vezzolf

I don't collect Figarti but an acquaintance of mine has had similar issues with more than one piece in his Figarti collection.

I had the same issue with The M3 Lee, treefrog was more than great, They sent me a second tank. But, the second one had a broken track. so I ended up with NO Lee tank. But since then, Whenever I buy Figarti. And I want to keep it. I totally examine it. And put a coat of Dull coat. And I am the kind of Collector that looks at my collection, and takes It out of the shelf/box Frequently. And has had no more issues. I have 9 Figarti's in my collection.

I've had a similar problem with a K&C Kubelwagon. I chalk it up to bad luck, as these problems seem to be very rare. Can you take a macro picture of the problem? It might have an easy fix.

I just noticed the paint flaking off of my Panzer IV. Just one more issue to add to my Figarti complaint list.

I had a similar issue with a set and took it to a friend of mine who makes soldiers under the Le Mans line. He fixed it but told me the problem was that primer had not been applied at the factory.

Yep, without the primer. The paint has nothing to hold on to. bare metal will not hold it, And Am hoping that it has been fixed. And again, before I joined the "Figarti" bandwagon. I was A harsh critic. But did say then that "A Critic, can be the Biggest Fan." and I have been. I also noticed that on my Quad halftrack, The Limited edition number has risen to over 30 pieces. Maybe they have figured out, their problems with the white metal.

Yes, Brad "you hit the nail on the head" ....it seems that there was no primer under the paint.....only bear metal....Just another example of "poor quality control" by Figarti.....We should not have to apply dull-cote to Figarti models to keep the paint adhered ......Figarti should properly prep their models before painting them....I am calling out Rick on this one.....Rick Please respond....or if you would like you can send me a private message regarding this....I await your response........Thank you Vezzolf

He likely will have you send the piece back for repainting, but definitely contact him. I have a few times and he has taken care of the repair.

Vezzolf, I have to tell you I have the exact same problem with my long tom from 3 years ago. About 2 months ago I looked at it and there was something funny looking on the barrell. I touched it and a chunk of paint fell off. A closer look revealed the paint on the barrell was peeling away.
I contacted Rick and he got right back to me and referred me to his associate Peter, . He then advised me I could send it back or due to the fact they cannot send paint in the mails he gave me the brand and colors to paint it.
Needless to say I did not want to ship it back to China, and never got around to looking for the paint. Now with what I learned with no primer that won,t do any good any way.
What I intend to do is contact Rick prior to OTSN and make arrangements for him to take care of the matter then.
I am in total agreement, you pay $250 for an item, NOTHING should have to be done on the buyers part.
Hopefully Rick will read this and make a different suggestion relative to this problem. I have to say Rick has always provided excellent customer service in the past..
Funny thing with Figarti they really seem to have their packageing right now and up comes this problem.
P.S. I now have the cannon displayed with the good side of the barrell showing, because if I see the chipped side I will get pissed.

I have the same problem with my Figarti Long Tom, for the same reason: no primer. I hope that Figarti has corrected this problem and uses primer now.

I think they should all be recalled. My Long Tom is pretty much garbage. Why is it every time they're is a post about Figarti it contains the words broken, fix, repaint, glue, or damage ?

I don't know if I'm just lucky, but I've had a dozen or so pieces recently, and they've all arrived fine. Sorry to hear of the issues re the Long Tom (which I haven't got) which seems to be hit hard re the paint flaking.

I have e-mailed Rick at Figarti regarding this problem.......The fact that many others on this thread have had the same problem indicates that this is surely a "manufacturers defect" and as such should be made right by Figarti.

Fellow Figarti Fans

I just made several Figarti purchases and I must say my US M7 Priest has a large paint chip on it.Really it is a flake since it hasn't quite fallen off yet. These are great vehicles amd improving figures but I think I might hold off on Figarti in the future.

My Firefly tank has paint flaking off the fender. Maybe my tank needs some curb feelers. Right, Terry (Phantom Warrior)?:p

Look at the bright side: at least they don't accelerate uncontrollably or veer off the road on their own.
