Figarti-More pictures of the new 5.5" Gun (1 Viewer)

Great looking set but £349.99 for a truck & the gun with no crew

Carlos mate,
I am so, so tempted. The gun and the tractor are absolutely magnificent.
There is no Figarti dealer in the Land of Oz so I will wait to see them up and close in Chicago. 58 days to go but whose counting.
Cheers Howard

The crew comes with the 25pounder;)
Joking aside they look very tempting and makes a change from the total barrage of Axis releases:D

Howard, see you in Chicago then. It should ge great fun again.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like another great release from Figarti, especially if you're into artillery. Nice to see an Allied release to temper all the Axis ones. Not many manufacturers are producing Commonwealth kit, it always seems to be American or German, nice change of pace. That British vehicle is really neat and unusual looking and I'm sorely tempted to pick it up. Wish I had those 6 pack abs that that artileryman has! :D

Guys,
Just to confirm the 5.5ins gun comes with crew included.
Photos of the Gun, the Matador and Churchill AVRE are up on

Your photos are not of the finished Matador are they? I ask because the truck has no mirrors that I can see in your photos. Thanks.

Good spot.
These photos came from factory but could still be pre production.
I'll check out.
However, I'm hoping I'll have some air freighted this week so will endeavour to post the actual items.

So who can give us some history about this gun? Was it common? When was it introduced into service? How long did it last?

Blowtorch

I think if memory does not fail me that it was designed early in 1939 but, was properly produced as the gun we see from 1940 until 1945 cannot remember actually how many were produced but, saaw service everywhere the brits fought.

The rest I know is about shells recoil system etc and, is better than a cup of hot chocolate to bring on a good nights sleep

Hope it helps
Mitch

Blowtorch mate,
Australian Army:
The 5.5" medium gun gave good service with Aussie Army in the later stages of WW11 in the Pacific Islands and was still in service during the mid-seventies. I toured 10th Medium Regiment at Geelong (Army Reserve Unit) in that period and saw the gun in action. Not sure of its actual retirement date. John (Obee) being an Arty man will probably know more. Being an old Tankie, I only had mates in the Field Regiments (25 pounders & 105mm guns). The M198 is the current gun of the Medium Regiment.

Figarti are bring out some great sets that I think can easily be converted to become part of my Aussie Army Collection eg. 5.5" gun, Matador Tractor, M198 Medium Gun and the Abrahams Tank.
Cheers Howard

Howard, Figarti often do two color variation of their models, maybe we should lobby for an Aussie 'Desert' version, I would buy one for sure.
