I have a very good friend from college who is a DEA agent. Mind you he is out in the field and has served in Columbian jungles and Mexico. He says that there are people within his organization who are vets who are offended by the terms “war on drugs” as they do not see enforcing drug laws as a war. My point is that this has devolved into semantics. Is murder manslaughter and vice versa? Either way someone is dead. Wars, battles, skirmishes, conflicts, fights, skirmishes, confrontations, clashes etc., in the end it all boils down to groups of people fighting, killing and dying.

Rob,
Thanks for the correction. Whats my war record have to do with it? I was making comparisons of the different names politicians call it (money savings). No matter the name, people get hurt and or die. Thats the bottom line. No affront was intended for calling it a skirmish.

Thanks Thompyt, and you are of course right, whether they died in Normandy, The Falklands, Alamein or Passchendaele , its all conflict and lives never to be replaced.

No offence meant from me either (especially to your service). The Falklands is still a VERY raw subject both here and in Argentina, I only hope both countries can try and overcome their differences (it won't be easy is an understatement)because no one wants War again.

I hope so. Some of us were not fortunate enough to have collected the first round of field grey Germans, so I'm hoping K&C expands this line for those of us who only started collecting the last several years. I also hope that vehicles follow as well. An early war Stug III would go great with these new guys.

Sorry fellas for getting off the thread topic but this is the first time i have heard about the carrier offer to the Brit's. It would have been tragic for the brit's if this scenario happened as it would have severely damaged Britain’s campaign not to mention there would have been a huge loss of life. It would have also been interesting if the Brit's took up the carrier offer if they had lost one or both of their carriers. Would the offer be for the carrier only and no U.S. aircraft would be involved and would British Harriers fly off the carrier?

A skirmish is a hand full of blokes taking pot shots at each other for awhile, sending a task force thousands of miles to retake the Falklands was a full scale liberation.

Injured or not, your willingness to serve is worth untold gratitude. I also feel that anyone who has served brings a unique perspective to this forum. However, your service transcends this hobby and like I said earlier I may not see eye to eye with you on all of your posts, but if we ever meet at a show or other event, it would be my honor to buy you a beer.

I am sure Andy is aware that the ‘new’ collectors missed out on many items and he will revisit them in some form or another. Heck, I have the likes of WS 047 and WS 069 and I hope he does them again so I can buy more Stugs!

they were just in a skirmish ?

What's really needed and would be great to see is a field grey 88 gun with the crew to man it. Again the possibilities are endless.

Aside from the 233 armored car & the PzII, none of the grey sets have ever collected much in premiums on Ebay, so you should be in luck to catch up. Even those two AFVs I mentioned have plummeted in price in recent years.
