first legion a success? (1 Viewer)

@ Capitolron:

Dear Sir, I read all your posts with the highest interest and except if you believe that you are not objective, no this reference was not directed at you.

Kindest regards

No problems i really was impressed, museum quality without a shadow,i wont be giving up on K&C but FL will be my main figures. As i say for dioramas these are the peices that will suit brilliantly. You've actually made things very difficult:rolleyes: i have 3 dioramas planned with K&C figures but now have to re-think and plan from scratch:( if you bring scots greys out anytime soon you'll muck everything up:D
Well said mate. I certainly hope the Greys do not come before my much sought after French cavalry and British Guard or Royal Dragoon cavalry; the Greys were not the only unit to capture an eagle you know.;):D

Hi, Peter,

Actually, we have a release that we'll announce in about 30 days (due out towards end April) that will REALLY muck things up for you. Not the Scot's Grays I'm sorry to say, but something that is truly worthy of a LARGE diorama. Sorry to make things so tough on you! ;)

Regards,

Matt

Peter, i think its best if you just wait in 30 days time mate.

Matt is quite a tease, and if you try to second guess like what i did, you'll go nuts! :D

i'm sure we'll all be pleased (if not delighted) in 30 days time. :)

I feel confident there will be somethings coming along in this range that will meet that test for me.;):D

Well I certainly wouldn't turn down the FL Greys if they come along but you can't tell me it wouldn't be exciting to have these blokes done in FL form.:D

Yes think FL greys would be fantastic but i've picked up K&Cs for £42 where FLS horse & rider figures are £76, thats a big difference compared to the foot figures (approx £6 more) , a little extra i dont mind paying but i dont think i'd go that far.
Ive already bought 2 FL french line figures on the bay for £20 each well under retail price,he originally had them at £26 and coundn't sell them and both were mint in mint boxes. A sign of the times? not that i was complaining but a signal to why i started this thread.
I certainly would like to see FL expand and be a great success and not come unstuck as these really are great figures

And how long ago did you pick up K&C cavalry for 42 pounds?!? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the K&C new mounted Napoleonic lancers something like 78 pounds each via K&C UK? So if you're wondering if we'll stay in business, in this situation we're offering higher quality mounted figures for a lower price are we not? Just an observation...

Regards,

Matt

I bought the k&c greys and cuirassiers in the U S for £42 ($58 at the time 3 weeks back) i found a very good supplier some time back, but theres been and still is a few for the same or similar prices on ebay (although most are the £47 mark still a fair difference),and yes the new lancers are £78 and i wouldn't pay that either, K & C start a new figure at the top end price but come down after a while. The lancers wont stay at that price for long.I'm not disputing FL quality you know that and i would prefer yours Matt, but for say 8 peices for a dio your talking £605 compared to £336  Unless your fortunate to be well off not many will have that kind of money spare i suspect

72 Pounds would be a bit over $102. The FL mounted figures are $89 in the US. Is that all a VAT and duty difference or what?

£76 is what TMTerrain are charging, sorry i didn't make that very clear (correct me if i'm wrong mark) which i understand with having them shipped here, and as you say $89 would be about £60 a fair price i would be happy to pay but then theres the dreaded custom charges,to give you an example i bought 2 figures a few weeks ago for $40 "ah shouldn't be any custom charge on that" i thought. Then i got a card through the the door for a £11 custom charge, all because they didn't tick the gift box. Its totally ridiculous imo and i beleive you dont have that problem in the US, but you can imagine what it would be on say on $400:eek::mad: It then doesn't work out any cheaper. Though this can be avoided

Wow, do you have to pay duty on items just shipped to you from the US or where ever?

Peter, i understand your frustrations fully.

Singapore's custom is just as atrocious mate, believe me.

I accept paying higher for First Legion's items, but the shipping and especially the customs are really a goat.

that is why i even contemplate of going to Hong Kong myself to fetch the items. at least i can put it as a holiday package.

Just to clarify things the FL figures range in price from £30 upwards details are on our website www.tmterrain.com
We then have to pay shipping costs to the UK then we pay VAT which is currently 15% on the consignment.
We also then have to pay duty on top of that.

Customs, customs:mad:. This is probably the most important factor stopping me from buying more from out of the EU: having to pay 34% or 35% of price and shipping on top of the original price and shipping .

There are ways to avoid it but that depends on the sellers, some do, some dont. My K&C seller does so gets plenty of custom and its no skin off his nose but some seem more loyal to the British government than potential customers something i find hard to understand:confused:when its so easy and helpful to do
