Not to steal Sammy's thunder but today's announcements, or dispatches as it were, were one of the most impressive I have seen in this hobby.

Any of the releases would have been impressive in their own but collectively they made for a staggering set of releases.

Must haves for me are the Civil War releases and the French artillery piece.

I have been on the fence lately on WW I, waiting for some impressive items to come along as a glut has been developing, and the artillery set (along with JJD German tank) is the impressive piece for which I have been waiting.

Brad,

I have to agree with you the French WWI artillery piece looks impressive and will be hard to resist not adding it to the WWI collection.

Regards
Mark

If I were ever to venture into FL it would be the French gun which I have to agree is very good.
Wayne.

The French 155mm is a really impressive piece of modelling and, frankly, one I never thought anyone would even think of doing. I would nominate this gun and crew as release of the year, to this point. It is the neatest WW1 ground war release that I have seen. -- Al

They might rule IYO but the prices suck way Out of this Butchers budget I'm afraid 350USD for a HT no thank you,nice but way to pricey.

What I like is the confederate artillery section. (although the derby hats look out of place. They were popular in the 1880's. You see a lot of them in gar photos or reunions). Also like the half track. The facial sculpts on the civil war are awesome as usual!

Brad, I would tend agree with the title of this thread:salute:: {sm4} {sm4} {sm4}

If I am not wrong the price difference with KC about figures is smaller and smaller, just 10 dollars I guess....

These really are outstanding releases and a huge well done to FL. Price wise, they are currently out of my budget but are on the wish list for sure.

Great to see them adding into WW1. It was the glut that you mention that made me determined to set up Empire and release a host of WW1 pieces oddly enough. And JJD have also released some lovely WW1 items over the last year or so..... Good times for WW1 collectors.

I share the concern over FL's prices with others on here but with the announcement of the French artillery and crew at what I think is a reasonable price, I will be trying to get them. FL's Poilus were $65 apiece, too steep for me to get beyond the 3 figures I bought. The new artillery crew are $55 apiece and I am willing to pay that for this unique piece and figures. The gun is expensive but less than the aircraft I buy, so it is very doable. I currently collect the JJD Poilus and at an average of $32-$40, I find them steep but affordable and they will mix well on a size-wise basis with FL. The KC Poilus are nice but are $39-$45 apiece and, to be honest, IMO, are too large to mix with JJD and FL. I badly want the FL 155mm and crew and will therefore spend the higher amounts to get them, but at $65 apiece, I just can't push my budget to add the infantry. As with everything, you buy what you like and what you can afford. I am willing to pay for the 'wow factor' artillery piece and at least some of the crew. -- Al

It's really nothing to do with prices. It just has to do with Wayne's constant pot shots at First Legion. He was banned from posting in the FL section for several years and has now been allowed to do so again; these kinds of posts are the result. If it was K & C, he'd be loving it :wink2:

And isn't a thread title, " First Legion Really Does Rule ", just plain baiting for a backlash. You had to know what you were doing:rolleyes2: Michael

What does that have to do with prices. I mentioned nothing about prices. The quality of these can't be surpassed.

First Legion products are the top of the line, pretty much every single figure is a sight to behold. Top of the line means top of the price point. Anybody that is interested and have bought their products, knows that it us worth every cent.
I personally loved the Panzer 4 that they released, but had to let it go. Because top of the line means choices, at some point, which means sacrifices too. I know I can not have every single piece that catches my eye. But the ones that I do are the greatest to behold in the eye... and I can not condemn a manufacturer because The price point is too high. If something that I like is made, then I am just happy that it was made.....

Now Bradley i thought you where a clever man,how could i possibly be posting ALL these pot shots at FL when i haven't been allowed on the FL section for years ??
A bit of a contradiction don't you think my friend,all i said was i can't afford to buy a USD350 HT {sm2}{sm2}{sm2}

The price differentail between K/C and First Legion is a bit more then $10 in some instances for figures but the gap is NOT overly significant IMO when you consider the difference in detail, and level of realism in the FL product lines....In regards to prices for AFV's FL is definitely higher but again not off the charts when you compare the 2 companies....the difference for WWII AFV's runs closer to $75-100....I just collect a bit less with FL but I'm never disappointed with what I purchase....There is no denying FL's high quality, historical accuracy and scale consistency in military miniatures......This hobby is never cheap no matter whose product you choose to collect........K/C can get quite expensive as well especially if you collect "alot of it" EACH MONTH....No bargains anywhere except if it's quietly discounted by a dealer/friend and we all know that's against the rules.:wink2:

Too funny mate when it was only recently that you were allowed to repost in the FL section :wink2:, not to mention that this is not the only place you post. I wonder why it was that your posting privileges were originally taken away :rolleyes2: Tut, tut, let's not dally on the subject too much longer ^&grin

I respect your decision not to like FL but why bother to post in this section then. For example, I have no interest in rugby but when those who do, post and get excited about it, why should I go on there and make negative comments about the sport. That would be rude on my part.

Enjoy the weekend mate ^&cool
