Just been having a bo peep at the web site and what is for offer there.

There are some fine looking items to tempt us for sure. I do think First Legion will become a major player in the future. Still waiting to see them in person but soon for sure. Simmo.

I would Love them to be More, Again. I have said this before. When I first started in Buying First Legion, They chose to strickly do online/ phone sales. Which is hindering them, from reaching one part of collectors. The Ones that Goes into a store, out of curiosity. And buys out of impulse ( Like what Happened to me), out of seeing something that is so spectacular, that there is no second thought. Right now First legion is relying, strickly in 2 phases of what is out there. You will not know about them not unless. the buyer is part of some forum.
An example I have to give is, I was In the sierra toy soldier store, and was picking up A "snow tiger". Father and son walks in, Father sees something for himself, Bought something for Son. Possible start of a new hobby for both. Instantaneous. How are you going to get that, if you are strickly doing Computer/ phone sales. when people are not aware/ looking for you. Of people finding you, just by chance.

I agree, there's nothing more fun than viewing items on display-but since there's no retailer I'm aware of in Colorado, I only get to go to Sierra a few times a year when in the area. That means a lot of my purchases are 'leaps of faith' and I've done the same with FL-and have not been disappointed. With regards their go to market strategy, I can only speculate that they're satisfied. I'll leave it to FL to comment on that if they care to.

I do understand that perspective for sure. The other side of the coin is that it would inevitably cause their prices to increase, which for the current collectors, is not such a happy thought. I am the opposite of an impulse buyer and generally have to see and think about something several times so the store connection is somewhat less valuable for me. No doubt though, seeing some of the releases from FL I had not planned on collecting caused some revision and certainly some direct buys of those I do collect. I do think that their current access to buyers is far more broad than many think and is definitely beyond the forums.

Makes perfect sense...that would be a HUGE leap of faith.

I have never been in a toy soldier store or to a toy soldier show....And I have a sizeable varied toy soldier collection...???? ....go figure:rolleyes:.....All investigated and examined and purchased online at a website.....Amazing;)....Not being in a toy soldier store is certainly not hurting this company it seems......First Legion Quality is unmatched.... simply "the best product out there"..The Crusaders are excellent..."unmatched realism"......I think that most collectors including yourself already know that:cool:....Make no mistake about it "They are a Major Player"....www.firstlegionltd.com

I would agree wholeheartedly. I too, have not been to any stores or shows, but have built up the collection as I see fit based off what I can gather about the product. First Legion does a great job I think in showcasing thier figures on thier website. Whether the individual product listings or group shots in the gallery, they show plenty of pics of thier figures. I have never been disappointed when the figures arrive at my house, as they are just like I expected.

I guess part of the issue is what defines a 'major player'. Is it the total number of figures/sets sold? Or is it the quality of the work compared to price? You could answer this in any number of ways. In my opinion, First Legion is a major player based on their historical research, variety of periods/ranges, quality of paintwork/sculpting, and value for the money. Will everyone agree? Of course not. But that is why we all have our own favorite companies, which each of us would probably say is a major player.:)

Well we all depend on so called hearsay for various things so it is up to you whether that works for you. You don't have to start with a tank to verify their quality. You can start with a figure of your choice for $50 in change and likely make most of it back from one of the rest of us if you don't like it.;):)

All the things that they make are ,perfectly great. so you will never get disapointed.

Gentlemen,

I recently received my first FL “sampler pack”, which consisted of a few figures, on a sight unseen basis. Mind you; it took me a year to take the plunge, I first seriously thought about it in Nov 09. I was extremely pleased with their sculpt and paint quality and I liked the realistic “grittiness” of the figures, which is personally, an important factor, to me. As an aside, my bride thought they were the best figures she had seen to date, which rapidly lead to a FL birthday gift voucher. I have placed an additional order since then, and am very glad I took the plunge … Alby

Well, My Thought again is, How can a person, Know about First legion??, If they Are not a part of any forum, . It is an untapped Market, That might just lower the prices a bit ( Its like If you are brewing your own beer, and selling it. I will bet you. That if you have only a few dozen ( I know its more in the toy industry) people buying it. It will cost more for each person to get it. but, if you have a little more people buying it then, it costs a little less). another example would be, if you are buying anything, If you see something that you s you like in person, like jewelry. then chances are you will get it.
But if you saw it on TV, Or in the Internet, Will You be Buying it, Or have reservations. If you see something in person, and you like it, then there will hardly be any reservation.

And again, he is buying, because he saw how great the product is.

I think word of mouth helps. There are some things you have to buy sight unseen and these fall into that category. However, the photos posted on the website are very good.

Moreover, once you hold one in your hands you see the great detail and painting on these figures that are unmatched except in more expensive Russian figures.
