Having just done our first project for FL, BSP was very impressed by their products. So with that said, we are seeking to incorperate them into some of our multi manufacturer projects.

Last night I had an idea, and broke out Figarti's first Tiger ( 1/32 scale )...It looks like a good match. We are going to do a scene with it .....Lets see how it looks.

I think the Figarti Fuel Truck may work, because it was a bit small. Also believe it or not we are going to super detail some FOV products and see if they work.

Has anyone seen the size of the FOV Opel compared to the FL one. Because I can picture 2 or so FL Opels in front of a convoy with a bunch of reworked FOV Opels taking up the rear to create a huge scene, we dont have an Opel yet.

These are the ideas BSP is currently exploring, until FL expands their inventory. Alex

FL vehicles are scaled 1:30 as are the figures. Personally I think 1:32 vehicles will look small unless they are kept separate from the figures.

A couple shots of FL figures with an HB Tiger and one of me for reference.

I don't know...I think the figure in this picture isn't quite the correct scale...perhaps a little undersized. :rolleyes2:

Not trying to start a fight i love FL but here are shots of FL WW11--and HB--WW11-TANKERS AND A SHOT OF FL--TANKER AND ROMAN --SAME SCALE???Mike B

Mike..

I think Sammy, who originally asked about compatibility, was talking about FL and Figarti

Frank how tall are you ?

Oh!...And I just noticed FL has the WWII figures listed as 60mm not 54mm on their website, am I crazy or did they change that ?

Alex,
I am in complete agreement with Frank as far as scale. The nomenclature often used 54mm, 60mm etc is can be meaningless.
If you want to know what scale the figure is, then measure the equipment they are carrying as this is a real world constant... unlike the height of a human being.

Measure something like the MP-40, or the M31 Gas mask canister and do the math. The 1st Legion figures are generally pretty close to 1/30th scale and almost always closer than other figures marketed as 1/30th scale.
The real eye opener is that the smaller the item is in real life (1/1 scale) the harder it will be to see the difference between 1/32nd and 1/30th scales.
Often the differential in scale length of a MP-40 or even an M-1 Garand will be less than the acceptable shrinkage that results from design to production of a model weapon in the collectibles industry.

This is why vehicles are much easier to measure and show the difference between 1/35th, 1/32nd and 1/30th scales. The greater sizes in length and width calculate out to visible differences even between 1/32nd and 1/30th. If you choose to use some of the other products such as 21st Century (1/32 scale) or Forces of Valor (1/35 to 1/32) in your displays along with 1st Legion then I would suggest that you use them to force the perspective and place them to the rear.

I have had more than one of the principals for various collectibles companies tell me that the stylized look is more important than the actual scale for their products look. When stated this way, I find it an acceptable position for branding purposes, but as a result these products usually have a minor presence in my own collection.

The First Legion WW2 figures look skinny compared to the Honour Bound figures.I would like to see them with a Figarti figure.

I have also been to the Bovington Museum.I am 6 foot 4 inches and felt small standing next to the Tiger.

As a sculptor I respect your oninion, and I will observe the gas masks and weapons etc. But as far as figures go in general I have a difficult time using them with K&C, TCS and TGM they just dont seem to fit. Yet I feel more confortable putting them with Britains for example. Figarti has varried with size of their figures so I did not include them.

I want to put FL with my 1/30th stuff that would give me great versatitily.

Well I will keep on playing around with them and I will sort it out. Alex

I TRIED TO USE them with my K&C,TCS AND HB items and it did not work for me ----they are just to small to mix with those brands --IMO.MIKE b.Worked much better with Aeroart items.

You guys had me doubting myself. So I sit here now at my desk with one of every manufacturers figures I own. Right here right now. I am looking at them as I am typing. And I can tell you with NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUBT they are the ABSOLUTE SMALLEST and they are even smaller than Britains 1/32nd scale. That includes guns packs and everything.

I am using them with the 1/32nd Figarti Tiger, just as I thought from the begining. And that is excellent because the Figarti Tiger is of a caliber that justifies the FL Figures.

Whatever they are they are super cool !

OH and my wife just confirmed also. Alex

I agree with Peter, I must be out of scale. ^&grin

I'm 5' 10 1/2" (1791mm). The top of the Tiger chassis is 1800mm

Here is a link to a thread I created some time ago discussing the subject

http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?22845

Checked your thread you did a lot of work ....Thanks....In the end all I can't wait for FL to produce more AFVs and other lines of figures then we will have no problem :). I hope they decide to do some Americans and Brits.

I have the new Figarti P-38 and a couple of FL Stalingrad Germans sitting on my desk. I placed a German beside the pilot, and the FL figure was significantly shorter and smaller.

As far as FL and Figarti......I love Figarti stuff and we are friends with Rick and Peter, but their figures have been all over the lot. Excellent, good, bad, small, tall, 1/32 and 1/30. So they can be compatable with everything and nothing.

I am looking at the Figarti Reichsbahn figures, which I thought were a small 1/30 for Figarti. They are still quite large compared to FL. The only thing I feel comfortable with right now is matching the original Figarti 1/32 Tiger with FL. I have a winter one which is looking good. We will throw it in a quick setup shortly.

Stay tuned to THE GREAT CRUSADE we will be matching up a lot of stuff. Alex

OK I did another test:

I matched a 1/30 Collectors Showcase Tiger to their own 1/30 Stug to see the difference in size.

I matched the Figarti 1/32nd Tiger to the FL Stug, the proportion difference was the same. So I am going on record that the Figarti 1/32 Tiger is perfect for FL, if you are lucky enough to have one of those original beauties.

I matched the Same 1/30 TCS Tiger to to a 1/30 K&C Opel Truck

I matched the 1/32nd Figarti Tiger to their own 1/30 Opel Fuel Truck and the proportion was the same as above. I had a huge discussion a while back about the Figarti Fuel Truck being a bit too small, and this comparison shows that it is, but now we can use it in the FL senario.

Result...I will be using the FL figures, the FL Stug, the 1/32 Figarti Tiger and the 1/30 Figarti fuel truck in a scene together.

I was searching my collection for other pieces to use with FL in the East, but that is all I came up with so far. Alex

It's far easier to use the published dimensions of an AFV vs the measured dimensions of the model to determine scale, and I believe more accurate. Matching one type of AFV to a different type of AFV to see the difference is relying on unknowns for each model - how do you know they are even the same scale? CS has changed scales a few times and some of the figarti models vary in scale (smaller) around the 1:30 scale.
