Now that is a matter of taste I guess, a nice red or a fruity white or you could go a tangy Korean blend............:wink2:

C'MON MAN...I did not see that when I was there. Hell no.

So how was Pepe's? I tell you what. I will just put it out there...if and when I visit Australia I will cook for all of y'all. Since I can't send mesquite wood to Australia...I send the seasonings. But don't we have the issue of Avocados there? As in you guys don't have them or something? I'll bring those too. I'll smuggle some fresh Jalapeños in and if I go to jail for breaking the biodiversity laws...come bail me out.

YES the greek food. I love it.

My better half was initially not too excited by the menu but once we had the food very happy with the choice. We enjoyed it but not high on our list of foods to eat out. When we eat out tends to be Middle Eastern, Thai or Italian or the steak places.

Plenty of avocados and jalopenos around so no need to smuggle in.

Yeah, we say, "shi-rahz" around here. I figure the Ozzies say, "shi-raz", rhymes with "as".

Seriously, I like the earthiness, herbiness of its flavors. It's like the stout of wines.

Prost!

In the last year, I've come to appreciate Chiantis. I had ignored them for many years but I was having dinner with a friend at a very nice Italian restaurant in NY and we ordered a Chianti and I was quite impressed. More often than not, that's what I prefer these days with an occasional Merlot or Malbec.

I know you're talking about wine, but I digress. I discovered Tito Vodka, it is affordable and tastes great. I used to drink Ketel One, but Tito's is better. Vodka drinkers should give it a try.

Actually in France, Shiraz is called Syrah. Syrah pronunciation in French is literally See and rat (like in ratatouille and you don't pronounce the t in rat) :wink2::wink2:

See Monsieur Grognard is an Aristocrat. I knew it!

Steaks from Texas, wine from Napa and last but not least, sourdough bread from San Francisco.

And potato chips from PA. Herr's, Middleswarth's, Utz, and Martin's Kettle Cooked. No one makes potato chips like the Pennsylvania Dutch. The secret is in the lard.

Pretzels, too.

Prost!

Now that I can go for, which was the basis of German Spiessbraten/Schwenkbraten.. "The Spiessbraten and Schwenkbraten (A Pork or Beef Steak/shoulder dish), belong to the city of Idar-Oberstein Germany, as well as the jewelry and precious stones. It started in the 1800's when Gem stone prospectors returned from South America and wanted to do their own version of steaks like the Gaucho's did." We used to go to one particular
place high on a hill that was part of a Schutzhund training club and watch the dog training while having the fare. The pork shoulder was my favorite along with a white radish salad, bread and beer. Have tried to do it here, but never can get it quite right. Difference in the wood maybe. So memorable. All that meat flavor with out the taste being masked by the awful tomato sauce American style [except St. Louis]. If I wanted tomato sauce I'd have lasagna or a Bloody Mary.:smile2:

Artillery,

Brother get my table ready because THAT looks like some really, really good eats.

BL,

I went to Wurstfest in New Braunfels, TX (our German Town...they do infact speak German too) and the AROMAS my brother of sausage and Schnitzel fare was absolutely mouth watering. They had to roll me our of the Beer Garten and I wasn't even drinking.

Hot dogs with cold slaw and chili (no beans), chopped barbecued pork with vinegar-based sauce, hush puppies, and Kispy Kreme donuts started here. Lots of sweet tea, of course.

Hi John,
Whenever you come this far South of Rio Grande, you are in for a treat....consider yourself invited....it will be a pleasure to chat about our hobby over some steak and wine...or really chilled beer......:salute:::cool:^&grin
Like Texas this part of the land mass is primarily cattle country so we also learn very early the goodies of life and how to tackle a good rack of ribs and a juicy steak......
Merry Christmas to you all......

you So. NJ/Philly boys get Scrapple too! Mmmmmmmm

Man, I miss my Rapa Scrappy here in Arizona, we do sell some generic frozen scrapple but I surely miss the fresh Rappa scapple, slice it thin to a golden crisp with some scrambled eggs, can't beat it.
