WOW...You blow mine away. I do not have enough TG to do Thomas justice on pictures yet...but I am certainly working on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also have not the time nor the skill you have on the dioramas!! Some day!!

Ludwig!!

I never tire of seeing your work Guy. Thanks for putting this compilation together. Still amazed by the winter cyclists. My other favorites include the minefield, and the two paratrooper vs. germans dios. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Folks,
My next TG dio will probably be ready by the end of next week ( SdKfz 253 with gebirgsjäger). It will be my last one before the summer season. Hopefully will resume dio making in september . Russian Hetzer, US paras attacking Brécourt German gun emplacement, sharpshooter in church tower, all these ideas are in the pipeline waiting to be made.

Guy I am a newcomer as far as displaying mountain troops in a realistic setting, looking forward to getting some idea's from you. Cheers, Robin.

Robin,
During WWII ,16 mountain divisions were raised. I'll give you a brief overview of the 1st-6th mountain div
1st Gebirgsjäger Div: participated in the Poland invasion
2nd Gebirgsjäger Div: took part in the Poland invasion, the invasion of Norway in 1940 and remained there until 1944, then it was sent to Denmark. Later in the war it fought in Southern Germany where it was destroyed
3th Gebirgsjäger Div:Took part in the invasion of Poland .Part of operation Barbarossa, but failed to take Murmansk. Later in 1942 it served near Leningrad. Retreating with the German front it surrendered to the Soviets in Silesia.
4th Gebirgsjäger Div:Fought in Bulgaria and participated in the invasion of Yugoslavia. Went to the Eastern front, fought in South Russia and was moved to the Crimea. Was pushed back into Hungary and into Slovakia where it fought the Soviets in the Tatra mountains. It surrendered to the Soviets in May 1945.
5th Gebirgsjäger Div : played a major role in smashing the Greek resistance. Air landed in Crete and fought alongside the German paras. Moved to Leningrad in Oct 1941. Was later moved to Italy where it opposed the allied invasion at the Gustav and Gothic lines . Surrendered to the Americans in Turin in 1945
the 6th Gebirgsjäger Div was a unit of the Waffen SS it fought in Finland and in Northern Russia.Fought in Karelia; Was moved to Germany to participate in the Nordwind offensive ( French Vosges Mountains) in Jan 1945. Finally it surrendered to the Americans in Austria in 1945;

At the end of the war the gebirgsjäger were deployed in critical areas as the quality of the new conscripts was poor.. They had the "EDELWEISS" insignia on collar and cap and often wore short beards like the Kriegsmarine.
Hope this helps

Very useful Guy, that's a lot of work for you, but I appreciate the effort. As I suspected most of the events are set in Winter locations, have a pact with myself to avoid Winter/desert campaigns (expense reasons only), so I will try to justify their purchase in Greece in Spring perhaps. On reflection I may have to halt this series and be content to see how you set them up. I like to think I am staying around DDay & Arnhem. Trying to contain WW11 it is so vast. Cheers, Robin.

To the newcomers on the forum welcome again to all!! I saw some great TG figures at the Texas Toy Soldier Show!!!

Ludwig!!

Looking forward to the release of the ski troops which, must come soon now that we are beginning to fill the ranks with mountain troops. We know TG are influenced to some extent by the original airfix relaeses and, the mountain troops they released had some excellent poses. It will be interesting to see how this range develops
