An awesome figure but I am not sure why they have him waving his hat on his sword. I like the painting and quality but not the pose. The man killed 32 men and had 33 horses shot out from underneath him. I believe they could have found a better pose.
That's kind of what I thought to but he is mounted on a horse.
I read quite a bit about NBF and don't recall them ever talking about him waving his hat. I might have missed it can't say for sure.

I, too, have read quite a bit about Nathan Bedford Forrest and I don't recall any reference or description of him waving his hat on the point of his sword. If he did so, it was not noted in the material I have read.
But,...then again,...at my age my memory is not what it used to be.![]()
