Forthcoming and fifth Dispatches of 2011 (2 Viewers)

Hey Mark,

A very interesting post with some good ideas in there. Yes this thread was a tad early this month , I usually leave it until about four days before but there felt a good ' chat vibe' about yesterday!

I think you are right about D day, we had a Brit invasion a while back and with as you say US troops being retired it's probably a return to the US beaches this time. I too am looking forward to seeing what AFV we may get, K&C never disappoint in Normandy armour. With Normandy and RAF releases coming up it's going to be another busy and enjoyable summer!

Cheers

Rob

I think it will be D-Day , RAF and some WW
for Arnhem it will be September .

I'd be happy if Arnhem was September Richard, would give me more time to get D Day releases! :wink2:

Cheers

Arnhem! Must be, we were told it would be in the first half, unless andy brings them out in june as 'd=day releases':redface2:

ACW (Union) featured last May as did the ruined Normandy church.

I'm hoping EA to feature in May dispatches with signifiacnt anniversaries coming-up for the Allies in North Africa - siege of Tobruk, Operation Battleaxe (failed attempt to relieve Tobruk) the invasion of Vichy Syria and Lebanon, the liberation of Ethiopa and Somalia and the failure in Greece and Crete.

Am also wondering if this year instead of huge waves of figures for one theater all in one go, we may see smaller hits throughout the year instead?

Good point. With so many ranges, a few new pieces from many ranges will keep collectors happy. And how many people can buy a "big wave" release from a single range all at once.

Absolutely Terry, I think that's why the 8th Army release have been spread out this year, I think it's a good idea and helps the collector spread the cost.

Do you guys have a set you've been meaning to buy for years but have always got sidetracked, and now think its about to be retired?. I have just that feeling about the Desert SAS Jeep, I need to buy that lickety split I think.

Buy it Rob! it's a classic and I can't understand why it didn't sell out faster... For me, it's a one-off as I don't have any other EA sets, although I do have several AK sets. Might have something to do with building the Tamiya kit version of this jeep when a kid. That now reminds me that I should have bought one of the LRDG Chevvies before they were retired.....:(

No - not so far, but with my slower buying these days, higher prices and wider choice, I am falling behind so it's only a matter of time till I start seeing items I want being retired.

Terry

It's OK...to "fall behind"...as far as I'm concerned my collection is already quite large...I'm not going to get into a panic if something is being "retired"....If I didn't purchase it within a year of it's release, I probably did not want it all that much to begin with... money is tight for most of us....These days I'm spending more cautiously and not impluse buying; also making sure I really want the item...Besides all that there are many alternative purchases from various manufacturers out there today. No need to panic buy.

Yes - same for me. There have been several items I really wanted on being released, but held off and found I can live without them. Turns out, the money has gone for items that came out later and wanted more. It really is about choices these days.

Terry

Ah that depends on what you collect and how important the look of your collection is to you. For instance if you want Brits for Normandy there is K&C with a small
Number of sets from Figarti , with US troops for the Bulge there is really only K&C producing fine products, Look at the RAF and Luftwaffe ranges, who else come close, no one if we are honest.

There areloads of producers out there but that doesn't always mean viable choice. It's why K&C are number one, they have many bases covered ^&cool

Thanks Jamo , I think I'll no on quick and get it:wink2:

Ok guys, with Easter approaching and April ebbing away May beckons. What do you think might be coming our way?. Maybe the Bowsers will be unveiled?. Last may we got a plethora of releases that included the excellent US D Day Rangers, Brit Tank crew , German Panzer Figures and those ACW Union Cavalry sets. Could this coming month be the start of 2011 D Day season, or some more ACW perhaps?. Place your bets!:smile2:

Rob...

all this speculation is going around YET again.....

Surely everyone knows what is coming.... WW1 aircraft, its been shown off already, so thats all thats coming for June.

Oh.. did I miss May... well thats Alamo, WW2 USAF and (as usual) WW2 Germans.

I think the retirements will be most of the Dispatches News, so eveyone will buy up big with what they want, but haven't bought yet (me included with more NAPs) but NO new stuff until next month to be released in July.

That's my prediction..... any comments ???? :) :) :)

We wait to see how accuarate mate!:wink2:

I just like getting folks talking about Dispatches John, its an enjoyable aspect of collecting, getting their views and hopes etc. Its never meant to p*** anybody off and apologies if it does.:redface2:

Just a few days now mate and we shall see^&cool{bravo}}

All the best John

Rob

dispatch speculation for me is one of the most enjoyable parts of the forum and the hobby. If one cannot get excited and speculate what manufacturers may release then whats the point of being in the hobby.

Here is my latest prediction.... we will get some german stuff and, some stuff will be discontinued!!!!... lol
