Ok guys, the turkey has been stuffed and eaten, the pudding set ablaze with vodka ( works much beter than brandy!:wink2:) Chitty chitty bang bang, Zulu and Home alone have all been on the tv and now 2012 looms into view like an iceberg from the inky blackness (topical Titanic sinking 100th anniversary link there:wink2:^&grin). So as we prepare to embark on the maiden voyage of Dispatches 2012....oh god I can't stop the Titanic refrences now...what do we hope to see from the good folk at K&C next week and next year in fact?

Myself I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing the UXB sets and figures we got a glimpse of in Chicago. Anyone have any thoughts on what the start to the new year will bring? Anyone for ACW,Egypt, LOJ perhaps? Am looking forward to what 2012 may bring for the RAF,D Day, Bulge and Arnhem ranges, so what are you guys expecting in Jan?

Fire away guys and a happy new year in advance to all of you...

Rob

Thanks again Rob for the idea for the thread:smile2:...I would love to see K&C do a repeat of the original winter 88 gun with the whitewash color, that was one I always wanted, also how about a Mark IV tank??...Sammy

My question is how much of the items leaked in the Collector Magazine will show up in the first Dispatch and what did Andy hold back to surprise us with in January Dispatches?

Terry

Well we should know next week with a bit of luck, perhaps mid weeek-ish. I think we are in for some splendid releases next year and I'm saving up some dosh for the summer, who needs a holiday then anyway??!:wink2:

Titanic has always fascinated me. Probably my favorite non-military subject along with the Race to the South Pole. Fantastically interesting stuff about man's endeavors. I also love to read about George Mallory and Andrew Irvine, Burton and Speak, ec. Somehing about those British and their adventures. :wink2:^&grin^&cool -- Al

I'm not sure about January, but I'm, hoping 2012 brings plenty of new WW1, ACW, and AWI. Basically all the ranges that were neglected in 2011. Oh and I'm really looking forward to the Soviets!!!!

Fascinating stuff Al, I also have non military interests in the pioneering early commercial airlines , the golden age of trans atlantic Liners, anything art deco etc. Every now and again I have a quick break from my love of Military history to read about one of these subjects...then its back on parade agian:wink2:

I'd say that most of the new stuff in COLLECTOR will be relased in January Disptaches, so I'm looking forward the new NAPOLEON in Egypt figures for my collection.

With Jan 1st being on Sunday AND Jan 2nd a Public Holiday, I'd expect DISPATCHES to be relased on Tuesday 3rd, so 7 days to go...... {sm4}

The KM wouldn't quite fir into the LSAH parade too well. They appear to be a lot more jovial in comparison. It would be the anti-thesis and add color to the parade. Brown, Black, and Blue.

I have never really been a Titanic fan and you might be aware of these publications but they may be of interest to you.

Howells, R. (1999). The Myth of the Titanic. New York: St Martin’s Press.
Gibbs, P. (1912). The Deathless Story of the Titanic. London: Lloyd’s of London Press Ltd.

Howell's book is quite fascinating, particularly his discussion of the 'Abide with me Myth'. I came across the Gibbs publication while writing my doctorate on the author. He was the most famous British War Correspondent of WW1 although he had made his name prior to the war. His forty page report (I purchased a fascimile edition) was the first and most influential Titanic publication. His view - which he re-iterated during the early years of the war - was that greater than the tragedy is the glory.

Just had a thought - I hope your interest is the ship, not the movie!
