Frederick the Great (1 Viewer)

Wonderful, wonderful.....

I do like to see Tradition painted in gloss, and with the high detailed finished by John on the Standard bearer. You say that you are startinga new series next month..... any clues for us???

I hope to do a couple more of teh Austrian Infantry this month, so I'll post them up as soon as they are dry :)

John

Hi Konrad,

Congratulations on your new standardbearer! John has supplied you with yet another gold metal winner! The figure is beautiful and you must feel extremely proud to have it among your collection.

I will certainly look forward to your next acquisition from John. He does amazing work!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

John & Konrad, Wonderful figures! A great job painting and Konrad what a wonderful set you have there. These are as good as it gets and on top of that I really like the era of Frederick the Great. Honestly, I'd love to have them.

When Napoleon defeated the Prussians he visited Potsdam where Frederick the Great was buried and told his officers to remove their hats saying, "If he were here now, we wouldn't be." (Well it was something like that :))

Konrad, I agree with you that this is the best one yet, but as a group just “Spectacular”.!! John should get "Two Thumbs Up".

Jeff

Hi guys,
thanks a lot for the positive comments, much appreciated.
Pat, you're right I really am proud and very happy to have this set of figures now.
Russell, that incident with Napoleon in Potsdam is most interesting. Thanks for mentioning it.
Obee, you want a hint for the upcoming series  ? How about "British Empire"? Not much of a hint, is it :D?
Jeff, definetely "Two thumbs up!" to John for this figure and for all the other ones I got from him. All of them are very unique.

Konrad,

I just saw this today. You got some outstanding figures there. John certainly did a great job with the painting!! Very impressive!! Enjoy them.

Mark

Thanks, Mark,
I just made a separate album on my profile to show just the Prussians only.
Albums of my other comissions will follow.
Konrad

Just one more picture that shows the entire group of 7 figures together.

Thanks, Randy,
my next project with John is one that hopefully will go on for quite a while and include way more then 7 figures.
And one more thing I want to say, it will include figures that particularly you will like.
I am pretty sure at least.

BINGO !!!
A lot of the upcoming figures will be in the way you are showing here, Randy.
You're good :)

Hi Brad,
Just noticed your post. Yes I did paint them some years back. I had the good fortune to be in London some years back and so I visited the toy soldier shops. The Tradition Shop, in Mayfair at the time, was my favorite. On the main floor are the painted sets and items on sale. Downstairs it's full of castings. I had a heavy load when I left the store. At the airport I took all my castings as carry on because I didn't want them to get damaged. The security person on the scanner looked at the image on the screen for a long time. When he figured it out he smiled and let me pass :).

Good tip:D!

hi Konrad,

Just wanted to congratulate you are an excellent collection of figures. I have taken the liberty of using the photo of the four Gardes du Corps together as my current PC background. Also can't wait to see what John paints for you next in the Tradition India Army range, if that is what you have actually commissioned him to do, especially the mounted figures. really tempted to get some of these figures myself now.

Cheers

Martin aka acw cavalry

Hi Martin,
thanks for the nice comment and I am glad you enjoy the pictures of the four Gardes du Corps figures as a background on your PC.
The new comission work I have in the plans with John is "The British Empire" covering the years from approx. the Crimean War to pre-WWI.
Included will be mounted and foot figures from various manufacturers.
I am very much looking forward to the first pieces which I might receive towards the end of this month.
Konrad

hi Konrad,

Does this mean that the figures that John will be painting for you, will consist of other makers as opposed to all Tradition as was the case with the Frederick The Great collection? Looking forward to seeing what you include for the Crimean period, especially mounted cavalry.
No doubt you will post photos as and when finished figures are received from John.
Regards
Martin

Exactly, Martin,
while at some points there might be some Tradition castings in there, the series will start of with castings from several other manufacturers.
When the first figures come in I will definetely post some pictures and follow up as the collection expands.
Konrad
