Well, as per our latest advertising, the next First Legion Pre-Order will begin the long awaited onslaught of French Cavalry. We've had images of our Cuirassiers on our website since we pretty much started and we've gotten email after email asking "when when when??", but we decided to do something different. Sure, we're still going to produce those Cuirassiers and when we do, they'll be the finest Cuirassiers available bar none. But other companies have all produced their versions of Cuirassiers, so we decided to first do new sculpts of the French Carabiniers. We hope you all enjoy them as much as you all seem to enjoy the Cuirassiers. So without further adieu we present you with the French 2nd Carabiniers Regiment. Coincidentally enough, this regiment was engaged both at Waterloo and Borodino among other locales, so take your pick. We hope you'll agree that it is some of our finest work to date. The pre-order for these figures will start within a week or two and they will ship in late October.

Well, that's it. As you can see, most of the figures are posed on only one leg. This is no small feat to achieve and these figures really are on par with figures that usually sell for about $500 each. Despite what other companies may say about their sculpting and painting, it's abundantly clear to us who provides the maximum value for the money and the finest sculpts and painting of any massed produced figures in the world.

Enjoy!

Matt

Well I don't know what to say

These are absolutely bloody fabulous Matt !!!!!!

The horse tumbling is particularily impressive

WOW:eek::eek::eek::eek: Freakin awesome.:cool::cool::cool: Adequate descriptive exclamations are indeed illusive for these. I can't wait for the pre-order.:D

Matt-
You were certainly right the other day when you said we would be blown away by your next release! Having seen the ad, I was more than excited to see these. Personally, I think the idea to bring out the Carabiniers first is a good one. As you said, something different that hasn't been done yet.

What a true statement! The poses on these take the idea of dynamic sculpting to new heights. I will be getting each of these for sure.

Thanks for the great work.

Noah

These are nice! I always liked Napoleon's Carabiniers. Whats the price on each of these?

Been waiting for this!!!!

The most anticipated release - apart from the next samurais of course - by faaaar.

What quality figures these! Uncomparable!

Matt, THANK YOU and bring them on!!!!

Matt,

Quite a few of the mounted Carabiniers, if not all, are shown in poses of action resulting in the horse only having one foot on the ground. Has First Legion taken any extra precautions to prevent the weight of the figure from causing the horse’s body to sage over time?

Your sculptors are doing an excellent job of capturing the motion of the horse. You can almost hear the thundering of the hoofs. :)

Of course, that's one reason why they're so difficult to produce. They'd be quite easy to produce if one didn't mind them collapsing under their own weight with their legs bending and breaking over time! :D Doing horses on two legs is challenging, doing them on one is an art form.

Thanks. Horse's are extremely difficult for sculptors to get right and we're quite fortunate in this regard.

Hi

I have just read this thread on the new releases from First Legion. Wonderful as per usual. I would dearly love to purchase these figures. so why is there no dealers for us poor folk south of the equator ??? Collecting is becoming a costly concern with postage having a great effect on purchasing. Is there any company supplying these models to the australian market. :(

Yes, we do. :D

Suffice it to say, if there was an Australian dealer the local Australian prices would be higher than the US prices in any case as someone needs to bear the cost of getting the product from the USA to Australia and that someone is the end customer. So if there are added costs for a given market the prices in that given market go up. It's like this in every region outside of the US where our figures are sold.

How about free shipping for a purchase over 250US like "Some" coys do ??

Though it may not seem it to those who collect figures from other companies, we keep our prices extremely low for the quality we provide. I really can't stress this enough. Anyone here who has any of our figures will tell you that they are very attractively priced for what you get. We don't run on NEARLY the same product cost to final retail price multiples that other companies run on. This is the primary reason we mostly sell direct. If we do things like free shipping on $250 orders and the shipping to Australia is $40-$50, we're essentially losing 20% of the sale. We can't do this as general policy and stay in business very long, our figures cost too much to produce and are already attractively priced. The alternative would be to offer free shipping and raise prices by 20%. I can't imagine that would be very popular nor is it fair to those who live near where the figures are warehoused.

I will say this, where it really isn't fair is to the collector who buys 1 or 2 figures a time. In this instance, the shipping costs to a place like Australia are a killer. It's not so bad at all when buying in volumes of 10-20 figure at a time. But there really isn't much to be done about it unfortunately.

Best,

Matt

These just have to be the best figures available on the market today for the quality and price. Really, really nice! :)

These are remarkable, especially the one with the falling horse and rider. Superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW ! these look Fantastic ! Does anybody know if there are plans of making any of the Carabiniers commanding officers to lead the charge? These are on the must have list for sure !

They are indeed. They are the best looking mounted Napoleonics I have yet seen, up to an including some Russian efforts.
