Gary's collection (1 Viewer)

However, speedier progress is gonna be required to get the collection packed up ready for storage.

And then there is so much more to be done prior to the move. Deck painting at the weekend residence is on the cards for this coming weekend. So little toy soldier packing is gonna get done as time marches on!

But if progress remains slow then the photos will have to stop and magazine articles curtailed after a certain point.

Its not all the collection that gets photographed - just enough to illustrate a magazine article from a certain conflict or period of history.

Once I get past the French/Indian wars and American revolution the Napoleonics will be less ardious. Having recently drafted articles on Napoleon in Egypt and Waterloo I can skate over the 500 odd figures from this period and box up quicker.

I did promise my wife I wouldn't carry on collecting in Tasmania and create a whole new shipping problem. True the move to another country is expensive but I have already ordered the JJD Roman pontoon bridge and the Aztec temple stuff is too hard to resist!

I do seem to have mislaid a small part of my collection. Tradition Marlborough?Blenheim figures. Strange I haven't seen them for years. Bought them on a trip back to London and visted the Tradition shop just before it closed.

If I was in a position to purchase new additions this month I would certainly go for the K&C tank transporter and William Wallace figure.

These Jacobite Rebellion JJD figures are certainly very good and were my first foray into the JJD world - John has really stepped up in recent years.

While arduous and time consuming the process of setting up mini dioramas from figures that have not seen the light of day for years is a really pleasurable process. It's all the other stuff around changing countries, jobs, buying and selling property etc that also needs to be sorted that's the problem!

I really like French/Indian war stuff. That bitter conflict in Canada and North America really does capture the imagination. Problem is there are a lot of toy soldiers to box up.

absolutely amazing Gary. One good thing you will be able to revisit these photos as a record that you did have them and just temporarily gone missing in your vast collection. I also have fallen victim to the Aztec series seeing John's temple, although I am now a late starter. The temple was the tipping point for me.
Robin.

It was very sad but I actually got butterflies in the pit of my stomach when I saw the temple porotype.

Stunning collection. Thanks for sharing your troops from the French and Indian War with us.

Brendan

Ok next batch of photos of soldiers that are now boxed up ready for storage. The Naps are light as I have already photographed and penned two atriles (Napoleon in Egypt and Waterloo) so no need to go mad on these. Just a small amount to pen an article on collecting Naps generally and how it was a world conflict not just Europe. And of course I need to get on with boxing up as the clock is ticking. I was surprised I had around 700 Nap figures but glad they are almost cleared.

First up though final FIW shots, AWI and few odds and sods and the few Nap photos follow.

Gary
