I returned from my Christmas works function to find two boxes placed on my desk. A large Roman galley by JJD that was too heavy to bring home and a smaller parcel with a few JJD and Team Miniatures Mongols. Looking at some of the items due to be released in 2020 I think it's going to be a bumper year in the toy soldier world.

Tassie had some pre Christmas postal delays but the JJD December add ons to my collection safely now arrived. I also have got the Thomas Gunn Panzer and a few WW1 Aussies coming in next week. I have put in a long awaited order to Kronprinz for some Renaissance figures that I know will take a while to produce and ship. I hadn't ordered from the guys (well Emilio and Carmen) for a while.

There will be more JJD to order (Jan figures) and some Team Miniatures Boxers and Russo/Japanese war. I would also like to put in another Beau Geste order but I don't think funds will stretch that far. I order so little K&C but there is some great value stuff out from them at the moment. Maybe just maybe a K&C item may find its way into my collection.

Look forward to read the article a your collection is probably the most impressive i have seen.
Thanks for the comments. The collection is building and I must sit down and spend some time recataloging and working out exactly what I have but its around 12,500 figures, planes, ships, vehicles and scenics I reckon.

The next articles out in February are from Toy Soldier Collector 'Defying the Eagles' on Rome's enemies and in Toy soldier and Model Figure Magazine its 'China Crises' on the Boxer Rebellion. I have just drafted an article 'King of Kings' on ancient persia and I am in the middle of an article on Napoleonic colonial figures - working title 'Bayonet and Fire'.

Its a wonderful hobby and I confess to being keen to collect as many different figures from as many different conflicts and manufactures as my wallet will allow. I am so lucky to have been able to financially support my passion over the past 20 years. I suspect one day when I retire the thinning of the collection will start before the rest are auctioned off as I wouldn't want to burden my family with disposing of the collection. But hopefully that's many years in the future.

A few JJD and TG arrivals this week. TG Panzer made it to Sydney on Wednesday but seems to be stuck! Let's hope it makes an appearance soon.

An eclectic mix flew into Tassie over the last few days. Abyssinian & Ashanti warriors, TG's great Panzer plus WW1 Aussies and the simply superb Team Miniature Boxer figures.

Always nice to get a bargain! Say hello to Peter for me. :salute:: He used to come to Chicago, but I haven’t seen him in a few years.

Hi my virtual friends. A few eclectic items have flown into Tasmania over the past week or so. I await a large parcel of FL sale items and JJD March figures should be in Aus next week and hopefully into Tassie a few days later. This is what I have in this crazy lockdown world. I hope the pictures brightens someone's world! Stay safe.

My top ranges from JJD are having trouble getting to Australia at the moment. Several boxes of the March figures ordered from John by my dealer are currently MIA so no March additions from me. I have a large consignment of First Legion sale items just sent from California so cross fingers they make it down to Tasmania. Being locked down on Good Friday I took a few forlorn shots of previous JJD releases to keep the spirits up.

It was also nice to see Thomas Gunn releasing a few figures again and I plumped for a few of these. K&C also are doing some good sale items at the moment - if only I had the spare cash I would go for some of these. But not going there at the moment.

Go well and stay safe.

Yes I have a package from TF MIA also, since 24th March. Expect this, as these are extraordinary times. No money worries as planned holidays this year are not happening, if ever, so diverting this money to TS’s{sm4}. Of course my Super has gone South, so I may find myself short in the future, but what the hell, so be it. There are few pleasures in life at the moment, so this hobby is trying to rectify for me. Great to see you posting Gary and continuing to support our hobby when it most needs it. Keep well. Robin.

Robin they certainly are uncertain times.

We have rental properties in the UK and NZ, so not sure how long the tenants can afford to keep paying rent. Yes we have super funds in NZ which are sinking fast but only a small pot in Aus (as only been here 10 months). UK pensions are final salary schemes so we are lucky there.
The big issue for us is my wife keeping her job which is looking a bit dodgy while mine will be ok for a while yet. But as you say TS collecting is one of those pleasures in life it would be hard to give up on.

We plan to go back to visit the UK when this is all over plus we have just bought a beautiful waterfront apartment in Hobart but it needs a lot of refurbishment with the bathroom coming first. The amount of TS's I could have bought for the price of this little job!
