Sammy, I fail to see how moving to Colorado is getting you closer to home, ie., Baltimore, home of the World Champion Ravens and future World Champion Orioles.{sm3} -- Al

They're now talking of 10-16 inches in northwest NJ. Just wonderful

We could use some out here. 50 degrees and melting snow at Leavnworth cross country track today. May not be able to ski thru the end of the month. Best pack up and head
South to the Westcoaster.....................

The weathermen here are saying it's going to stall out over the Atlantic and dump snow on us at the rate of about 3 to 4 inches per hour during the height of the storm, some are now calling for up to three feet of snow in Boston, I'm a bit further south, we're "only" getting 24 to 30 inches.

Going to be an interesting couple of days.

Got all the essentials yesterday; water, milk, bread and eggs so I can make french toast for two days.

Why people buy those particular items was and is a mystery to me.

People here get spooked when it snows, they think back to the famous blizzard of 1978 where stores were closed for several days, roads were impossible to travel on and cars were stranded on our major roadway called route 128.

People fail to take into account that it was about 35 years ago and snow removal technology has changed a lot since then, but all you need to do around here to cause a panic is call for snow, better yet a blizzard.

They always show some clambrain on the news during the non stop around the clock coverage of the storm who ventures out for a stroll to soak it all in, said person always says "Wow, this is GREAT!!..........I love weather like this"......:rolleyes2: and the person is dressed like they are part of an expedition to the north pole.

They showed a news report last night of a near riot at a supermarket, I guess they ran out of milk and bread, they showed one lady's shopping carriage with enough food to feed the Russian army for a week, is that really necessary?

I should have bought a grocery store..............

Snow is no problem. Just hope the power doesn't go out. That's when you start to feel like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

12 inches is predicted around here. Schools are closed in the area, although there are exceptions.

My company is closing at 1.

I'm heading out for a weekend of ice fishing with some blokes from my church (the famous quote, "It's for church, dear."). As we sit on the ice on Sunday we're expecting a foot of snow. No pansy hiding inside when the weather hits for Minnesotans. Bring it on!

How about some photos? I've always wanted to try that (don't ask me why!). Have fun.

What type of fish do you get?? ...any Walleye??

Good luck to my NE friends, we here in Maryland have little rain, although they keep saying the Swath may give us some winter precip tonight. Same newscast every half hour - The Swath - sounds more like a B horror movie name.............

The forecast is for snow from this afternoon or this evening, overnight into tomorrow, followed by rain later in the weekend. True, a lot of snow is predicted to fall in a short time, but if the rest of the forecast is accurate, and temperatures stay in the upper 30's, the rain will wash a lot of it away, and some flash flooding might be more of an issue. The forecast into next week is for temperatures to get into the low 40's.

The media love to gin up stories about this kind of weather, too, and the hysteria begins to feed on itself.

So, it's winter in North America, it's supposed to snow. It's good timing that it's on a weekend.

Prost!

Totally agree Goerge....Why people react that way is a mystery to me....Really stupid....I was a student in Boston 1978....except for the National Guard called in for some looting of stores....we were all fine....we pooled our food and did some drinking....and played alot of the board games "Risk" and "Monopoly"...... Some water, canned goods, gasoline, candy bars, batteries and fire wood is all that is needed for this kind of storm....I would hate to see how folks would react in a war time situation like WWII in Europe where food was really scarce....God forbide that anyone would miss a meal or eat a little less for a change.

George 2, 3 feet of snow, I don,t care. I have a package coming from you and I want it on time, no phoney weather exuses!
If it,s to nasty for you give it to your dad to take it to the post office. He looked pretty good at OTSN just put a warm hat on him.

Got all my orders out yesterday before the storm of the century came roaring in...............and yes, no excuses like two or three feet of snow will do............:wink2:

I wen't out this afternoon - the snow was already above my knee, but the roads were plowed and traffic was moving. It's now 6 p.m. and still snowing and is supposed to stop overnight. I'll shovel the walk tomorrow in the sunshine.
