I recently got the new/retooled BF-109 (ACE-205 version) and I must say John did a great job with it! The paint job is excellent with the RLM colors being accurate for the early war period. The weathering is not too over the top. The opening engine is a fantastic feature and really adds to the versatility of display options with this model. My only real complaint is that the canopy hinge is too large and obtrusive. There are other prebuilt BF-109 models from Corgi and 21st Century Toys in similar scales where the canopy hinges were better concealed... That said, it is still a nice model and a significantly better effort than John’s recent P-51. I may have to get the other BF-109!
Anyways, I’ve got mine currently displayed in a little vignette with some older Thomas Gunn Luftwaffe ground crew and John’s Josef Priller pilot set (I know Priller didn’t fly with JG53, but the figures still work!)
Enjoy
